Here in the United States for all intents and purposes, the Superbowl is a national holiday.

And I like football ( and often the stories and drama and narrative flow about football rather than the sometimes overlong games themselves),

and I have no one to watch it with.

I'm planning to go to my former college, use the library, a little bit of watching in the student lounge. Then drive over to an area which has a pedestrian shopping area and a little bit of watching in a Cuban restaurant where I watched some of the World Cup in 2010.

I guess an okay plan, and trying to get some productive activities done.

Still, nothing really to look forward to and pretty much a lonely day.

I watch the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. Puppy Bowl VIII this year!

I almost forgot, featuring kitten halftime!

I'm gonna go do a big grocery shopping during the game. The store will be empty. Plus, my house will probably be full of drunk guys screaming at the tv.

I do know that as soon as DH gets home tomorrow, I'm going to have to go to the store and get game food.

I don't care for football. Especially pro ball.

We get our food stamps tomorrow though. I guess I'll make Ro-Tel dip and put some sweet sausage in it, maybe some little weenies in bacon with brown sugar, my daughter wants to make some of these potato things with cheese and bacon on them in the oven, and her bf is going to make some chicken wings on the grill. Half hot wings and half Dales sauce wings.

ETA: If you were closer, I'd invite you over. It's all BYOB though.

Sounds like a fun event. I wish I knew of something like this going on (although probably not for the whole 3 1/2 hour+ event)

Thanks for the potential invite though. I do appreciate the thought. :D

Why can't people just have a glass of water and watch the game?

I watch the Superbowl for the commercials only :P
I'm actually going to an all-aspie Superbowl party tomorrow.

Meh, don't care too much for football, if you had cash to blow, isn't there like, bars, you could go to, full of lonely people like yourself?

Sorry to hear that AGS.

If it weren't for this thread I would've forgotten the SB was tomorrow. But, I'm not into sports so that doesn't matter much. Today, I'm bored and depressed and am about to go on a long walk. Will probably do the same tomorrow. (And maybe check out the puppy bowl that shrox mentioned.)

I live alone and many times, I have gone to a store and picked out a set of things that I liked, made myself at home and watched things like games and consumed those refreshments. You might want to look for some local papers and find some singles events that you feel comfortable with.

Wow, sounds wonderful. Wish we had something like this in Houston.

Now, let me do ask you this, isn't 3 1/2 hours+ a long time to sit around or stand around watching even a good event?

The problem is that most people go to bars in pairs or small groups.

When the Patriots defeated the Rams following the 2001 season in Superbowl XXXVI, and when the Patriots defeated the Panthers following the 2003 season in Superbowl XXXVIII, both of those are deservedly in the top ten among all-time best Superbowls.
