I was diagnosed with PDD-NOS in 1991 at age 11, before I was diagnosed with AS at age 16 in 1996.

Americans may have coin the term PPD but the original poster to this thread is not
from or in America.

Wow, ditto - PDD-NOS in 1991, they said I most closely paralleled having Asperger's Syndrome, and my psychiatrist at the time just cut to the chase and said I most likely had AS. Funny thing is I never heard the term PDD-NOS in reference to myself, all my parents ever told me since age 11 was Asperger's and I didn't even know that it wasn't my official dx till this past summer.

Hmm machine not using logic :p, just coz 1 is not in the country does not mean they don't read american book's and that depend's where the doc was from and what disorder's they heard of... :)

Since it's an American diagnosis he either talk's to American doc's, has an American book, done his course in America - or he is from America...

http://www.nichcy.org/resources/pddnos.asp#what

criteria for PDDNOS from the DSM-IV-TR. tr is an american used test...

PDDNOS really should be stamped out and took over to the As coz even I am confused by it...

Notice it keeps explaining it with autism / PDD

Hello I have "Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified" I am going to try and to explain this to you what it is for me to be PDDNOS zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol

DSM-V is coming out, American Psychiatric Association has created this web site in order to keep the public and professionals informed about the plans for DSM-V

/*
Someone with autism will have PDD but someone with PDD will not necessarily have autism.

This is another reason to stamp it out our brain's are wired differently

# There is some confusion over the use of the diagnostic term PDD-NOS. This should only ever be applied where all other diagnostic terms have been discarded already.

# Debates as to what is the best diagnostic term to use are likely to continue.

Logic error? Nothing I said precludes any of the above. DSM-IV is widely used worldwide. Its used in the UK. If the NHS does not use the PPD dx it has more to do with a small number of poeple on some board that have decided not to use it. My guess their logic is simple: The UK NHS provides limited help to people on the spectrum anyway and they certainily are not going to give specialized treatment that a person with a PPD dx may need.

DSM-IV-TR. is not......... dsm-iv is they is a difference........

The UK NHS provides limited help to people on the spectrum anyway and they certainily are not going to give specialized treatment that a person with a PPD dx may need.

/*
Not really they is tone's of it & it's not just under NHS ,gov projects - Charity’s ............. Amount of help that is out they for people with AS is huge it's up to you to change the attitude - and have people help you...

It's up to the person to want to help themself If you get off ye ass and look for the stuff you will see it....

Have a look at (NAS) http://www.nas.org.uk/nas/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=131

*/

And from this it looks like a doc did not agree with the first Diagnose...

/*
As the name suggests this term should only be used when all other possible diagnoses have been eliminated and there is some concern that it is instead being offered as a positive diagnosis to parents whose children may have atypical autism or Asperger syndrome. In response to this, some more recent research has looked into the possibility of positive criteria for PDD-NOS being developed.

http://www.psych.org/about_apa/ here is the APA of the NAS type thing only just started reading it as I never heard of PDD-NOS either...

Your missing my point entirely by suggesting people need to use charity and help themselves. The term PPD is not used by the NHS because they do not provide much
help for autism spectrum anyway. For ever post you find on WP from people praising
the NHS support of autism I can find 10 say the opposite. Your whole point of view is
how you think the UK is superior(see your post on UK military history) to America.

I guess I should give you more credit than saying your missing my point because your
not smart enough to see it. I think your missing it because you choose not to. Your
post on RDOS test in which on the same test you scored 124 the first time then 73 the
second time and you claimed to me the test were different and they were not. Suggest
to me truth matter little to you. You were trying say his test had little merit in evaluating for aspergers by providing false test results.

You provide confusing cryptic respones to most post follow ups in which you blame
dyslexia. I feel its just to derail the point of the post.

PDD is not used as you stick it under autism or As.... PDD is totaly different don't get it confused with PDD-NOS......

PDD is not used coz they fallow protocol and diagnose you with As, I really don't think you even bother to read the link's....

And as for the rdos thing I think most of the time you are totaly out of sink with me and rdos....

We are to america - and Aus is too...

was not false I just added more ? as I did not think about it alot or look up what it mean's again...

Hey if you want to feel your country is superior thats fine but does kind of call in question your judgement and objectivity on issues.

Now your saying the test were the same so thats in contradiction of your post that said
they were different. And if thats so what does it say about your understanding for your
test results to vary so much in a few days?

Know it's nice how you point other people stuff out and not your own if you take the test alot of time's and your score stay's the same I am starting to wonder if you kept doing it until you got a result that was good...

And pray tell how this is as rdos is from sweden and last time I looked that was not in America...

My scores were: 182(ver 7 ) , 180(ver 8 ) , 187(ver 8 )
Yours were: 124(ver 8 ), 73(ver 8 )

If all mine scores are fake (and there not) does not change the fact you reported the
scores 124 and then 73 all in a few days. What I scored is not related to your scoring.

I mentioned the scoring issue and I guess the above your refering to your "UK supremacy belief" to call into question your motivation and honesty in general.
It was not to convince you but other WP members.

I retook the entire test because I trusted your remark that it was a different test it
was the same test. If you have any point to make about the top line of the quiz it
is lost to me.
