This might be a little off for an AS forum, but I'm curious if anyone has ever had issues with being too loud? I have a fairly big voice, and when I was a kid my mom used to yell at me for talking too loudly while she was asleep--which in my case was just talking normally. Generally, the more interested, more excited, or more intense I am about a subject, the louder and more forceful I become. This has been a huge problem for me and something I've had to learn to dial back a lot, but sometimes it slips its leash and I can sort of see people mentally leaning away from me because of a combination of volume/power and sheer intensity of conviction.

I wondered if this is anything anyone else has experienced? Like, ever?

Same situation. When I get excited, I guess I can speak loudly, I think it's a natural result of my excitedness, and thus appropriate, but people frequently tell me I'm being too loud.

Also, when I disagree with someone, there are times then others will say I'm yelling at them, and I don't see it because I don't feel angry enough to be yelling (believe me, there are times when I know I am!), but if they feel that way, they can't be wrong.

The exact opposite occurs when I'm on the phone, in that situation, nobody can hear me, and always ask me to speak up...

I'm a loud mouth so I get told to quiet down frequently.

I'm forever being told to use me "Indoor Voice" as opposed to my "Outdoor Voice", i don't even notice when i get loud but apparently it's annoying.

The Missus tells me to talk quieter when I'm telling her something I'm excited about. She also tells me to not talk in a monotonous voice when I read to her. I never notice.

My parents always likened me to Lucy Van Pelt, and I admit I have a certain fellow feeling for her. Not for being a fussbudget, just for being, well, loud.

I have this issue although I have gotten better at it since becoming aware of it.

I'm either too loud, or too quiet.

I have a problem with being too quiet. People are always asking me to speak up and it really irritates me. It also doesn't help that I've got hearing sensitivites, so when I talk loud it sounds like I'm shouting to me, but it probably sounds normal to everyone else.

I think aspies are at the extremes on hearing sensitivities, it's either they can't hear themselves talking very loud, or they're ears are really sensitive, I go to a group for aspies in lincoln and there's a kid who's always talking very loud and he doesn't even know it. As for me, I don't really have that problem either way at this point in my life although my parents would probably come up with a way to deny that statement ^_^. When I was younger, however, I think I was the quiet type.

When I was younger, I'd often hear my parents say something along the lines of "I'm right here, Ed!" but I haven't noticed that happening recently. I suppose I get so excited about something and so eager to say it that I forget about the proper way to express that. I more commonly have problems with mumbling, though, especially with my friends.

When I talk about something I like a lot, I keep going and going, and if someone starts talking about something else to change the subject I begin to talk even louder.
