I don't know.

People who swear every sentence annoy me, but I also feel awkward around people who never ever swear. Swearing is the only way I know how to be funny to NT's. People seem to think my unique use of profanity is hilarious. I can be quite creative.

I don't know if I'd be able to stop swearing completely.

That is how I am feeling right now... when I swear people laugh.. but I just do not feel good when I swear without enough of a purpose.

I never swear and wondered if other aspies are the same. I just use words like gooshly googles and gagglysnug or other other nonesense word the comes out of my mouth.

Since all you really want, when you curse, is to be listened to try substituting other words for the curse words. The more imaginative the better! Here, try THESE on for size!

-Only hang around people who don't swear.
-Don't watch shows/movies that involve lots of swearing.
-Don't listen to music that has swearing in it (I'm not sure you should listen to slip knot).

I know how ya have a problem and I have a bit of it too. Society expects us to swear until AFTER college, such is what people place on you.

Think of it as this, hiccups. Ya can't stop it much, but if ya keep forcing yourself not to give in a little at the time, it gets less and less violent. So just tell yourself STOP. It won't work there but eventually it may. All I can advise ya to do.

well, there is always the classic "swear jar" :)

I used to have a huge aversion to swaring when I was little, but that changed somewhere between 5th and 6th grade.

I'm thankful that i've not been cursed with the unnecessary need to swear.

My mother however, swears in nearly every sentence. I've not figured out a way to stop her from doing this.

Sorry, no suggestions here.

I honestly think swearing is perfectly alright, so long as it's motivated and not just spat out in the air for no reason.

Alright, some of you might have misunderstood the question, others are dead on... I do not care about stopping completely, it is the mindless use of swear words that I am having trouble with... filling the air with swearwords consciously yet for no reason. Thank you for you suggestions and to sinsboldly, I thank you for the laughter.

I thought it was appropriate!

But as to 'filling the air with the mindless use of swear words'. I had a friend once that did just that. . .and later was found to have Tourette's Syndrome. He said it was like a fog came over him and he just blathered it all out, then it . . and the 'fog' feeling, was gone . . .until the next time.

somthing to think about.

Feel awkward! I love my non swearing ways, and it doesn't make me a worse person for doing so (I'll use censored swearing online, like f***, but that's actually me saying the f word, not f***)
One way to stop is to get an elastic band and snap yourself with it whenever you catch yourself swearing (the pain will make you want to stop)
Also, if you have a friend with you most of the time, get them to make you pay 25 cents whenever you swear...byebye money, hello less profanity :D

Actually I don't use the f word a lot naturally. Only when I'm around other people that seem to enjoy it. Or under my breath when I’m angry.

However, I used to know some Christians who were offended by words like "damn" and saying "Jesus" or "oh my God" as a expletives. I feel uncomfortable around people that strict because I can't possibly remember not to use those words.
