I think that smiling makes me happy, but it could just be a sort of psychological association rather than any real biochemical trigger point.
Hold a pen between your teeth without your lips holding the pen and you'll feel happier.
Hold a pen using only your lips and you'll feel worse.
This has actually been demonstrated to work in studies.
