I can relate to all of this, especially this quote. I often realise afterwards, like much later afterwards that I put my foot in it.

no it is not a gamble. i have nothing to lose socially. i "bet" nothing on social situations, and i do not even look to see if i "lost".

that is because you can not lose if you bet nothing.
