omg after reading this i think i kindof have face blindness and i had no idea:/.

i remember people by the situation i know them from, or their clothes, or something like that...and if i see them in a completely different situation ill either not notice them at all or ill realise that i know them but not be able to work out how for quite a while. for example, say if i speak to the same person everyday who works in my local shop- id know who they are and what they look like but if i bumped into them at the cinema i wouldnt notice.
its like when recognising people my brain gives more weight to things other than simply what the person looks like.
and im rubbish at recognising people who i havent seen for ages, especially if they look qite different and have changed their style or hair quite a lot etc.

its weird

I find it easiest to recognise people by their voice, then their face, then everything else. My memory of faces is a bit awkward, though. I don't memorize the faces themselves, just a link to the face. It's comparable with e shortcut in Windows or a soft link in Linux.

I'm extremely nearsighted & I don't notice faces unless I'm supper close. I recolonize people in different ways including their voice, their body shape, their hair, the cloths they are wearing, the sound of their walk sometimes. sometimes what the person is doing. I do not have one universal method & this is not something I really think about, I just do it

For me, hair is the biggest factor. Gait and mannerisms come a close second, and then any distinguishing features (tattoos, scars, etc). But if someone gets a major haircut, I'm screwed briefly. Luckily, "oh my gosh, I almost didn't recognize you with the new haircut! It looks great!" works quite well to smooth over that blunder.

I'm very good at voices...not as much with faces. I'm actually so good that I amaze myself lol

Like I was watching Beetlejuice a couple days ago, and I noticed that Alec Baldwin's voice was coming from the "dead" dad character, so I looked it up, and sure enough, it is Alec Baldwin in that movie. :)

It reminds me of when I was watching "Independence Day" when it first came out and I recognised the voice of the scientist with the long white hair down at Area 51. After thinking for a while where I knew that particular voice from I realised it was "Data" from "Star Stek" and as soon as I realised that I recognised his face as well. This sort of thing happens to me every now and then, but this particular case is the first time I realised voices were easier to recognise than faces for me.

i ask them to show me their id.
without id, people could be anyone.
if they are anyone, then there is a problem.

After I've stared at them blankly for a while, they get nervous and say something like: 'er...I'm Tom, we met at the...', or 'er....hi, I'm your brother'.
