I never have heard of this before, I heard of Autism, but I am no rain man. I thought it was just bad luck, and bad timing, cursed...

years ago in the church I met some autistic kids, and cared for one. other than that, I never knew of "high functioning autism" and Asperger.

I know a few from highschool and there are some people I suspect of having it, but I actually don't like other aspies very much. Since mine is so mild, I find it difficult to get along with them, especially if they go off for hours on cats or trains or something. However, I can go off for hours on the intricacies of Christian Fundamentalism in the United States, so I guess we're about even there...

I'd bet a large sum of money my dad has it. But it hasn't been confirmed. He's the only I know.

One, and he is the friend I've had the longest, since I was in my early teens. I'm 24 now. Probably not much of a coincidence.

I really only have two friends, both are aspie males. When I look back on my life I recall many people I knew who I now suspect were aspies. Most of the girls who like me now and I suspected liked me in high school have aspie tendancies. I remember this one girl in high school who i suspect was attracted to me and, looking back, I suspect she might have had aspergers since she was so creepy, loved manga, seemed kinda isolated, and came on a bit strong.

Wow, I never knew liking manga was part of the criteria. I should double check the DSM, this sure is news to me. :P

I've had my suspicions about my father... he seemed to understand what was going on with me in social situations growing up and offered ways of dealing with it which apparently he'd used himself. If he doesn't have it, I think he certainly has some tendencies in that direction, less than me, but has learned many ways of coping with it. But he is someone who seems to believe every "difference" (including health problems like asthma) is some kind of character deficiency which must be overcome, so I know he'd never acknowledge it.

I used to have a friend online who had it. He was the first person who actually made sense to me and understood the things I talked about that were just "weird" to everyone else I knew, not to mention giving me tips on how to deal with people when I found myself in problem situations. It was as a result of this that I started looking more into it and over time came to the realization that I probably have it too. Unfortunately, we're no longer friends.

Don't quote me on this, but I remember attending a Tony Attwood conference back in 8th grade and the subject of anime was brought up. Apparently a lot of Aspies like anime to an extent. Something about how the art style is pleasing to the Aspie mind. It would explain the fifty or so otaku that I've met so far during my time here at WP (AtomicKaiju, I'm looking at you :P)

I know two or three of my male friends who are on the spectrum, and a few whom I suspect are. Either I can't think of any girls, or we're just better at hiding it in general. I do think some of my friends have noticed little quirks about me, but because I'm very bubbly and silly, they read me off as being "endearingly awkward".

I haven't yet had a conversation about it with any of my friends who also have it, because not many of my friends know that I have Asperger's.

hhmm interesting, maybe it's the exaggerated way the facial expressions are shown?
I quite like manga myself actually, I like the drawing style. I'm not massive fan of it though.
