People complain and make fun of my voice on Youtube.

My voice is shaky sometimes, high-pitched for my age, is monotonous, and I have to think hard before I speak.

I'd rather have Denzel Crocker's voice.

I actually like my voice. In German (native) my accent is very clear, and my voice sounds about right for recording audio books of children's stories. The first times I heard it I was a bit shocked because it sounds a lot more girlish and feminine than I feel like, but I got used to it.

Now, I can't stand listening to people with odd voices. Like very raspy, wheezy, creaky, with some kind of whistling sound to it. Many American English accents use a lot of creaky voice and it makes me feel like my toenails are rolling up on their own accord. There are also voices that sound like the speaker needs to clear their throat badly, and I don't want to listen to that. The things is because I dislike it so much, I pay a lot of attention to my own voice. I pay attention to other people and the way they speak, so that I can learn to copy the aspects I like. I read out loud to myself. I echo when watching the TV or listening to audio books (provided there's nobody near who might take offense.) I also sometimes record myself readings things.

... I wonder if doing the same with songs would help my singing voice.

Really? That's interesting. I'm American and now I'm wondering if my voice is creaky! LOL!

I don't particularly like mine if I am being natural, though I am very good at manipulating it to do most whatever I want. My natural voice is a deep bass and has kind of a southernish Texas drawl, but not as much as you would see on King of the Hill.

I have been fascinated with accents most all my life especially foreign one's. The one's I like best are English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh.
-------------------------------------------------------------
But I love other European and Eurasian accents as well. My Siberian/Russian cab/taxi driver has an adorable accent as does this Romanian guy I run into sometimes around here. That Romanian guy is cute too! There's this other Russian guy who works where I buy my pizza's and his accent is great.
-------------------------------------------------------------
But I believe how attractive someone's accent is, depends upon the sound of their voice. I've heard some English people speak and thought damn, they need to close their mouth!

I used to hate my voice, the worst possible thing I could do is play back my recorded voice. I'm not as bad as I used to be though.

Being from west Dublin I have what's probably considered a "working class" Dublin accent but it's not as strong as others in that area. It's not really like the stereotypical Irish accent at all.

Try growing up in Tennessee and not sounding like a hick. I'm constently making fun of the rednecks but catch myself speaking just like them.

I was slow to speech, and I still have a couple impediments I'm very self conscious about, so yeah, I HATE hearing my own voice. People often ask me where I'm from when I talk to them, only to end up telling them I'm from HERE! Though sometimes, like when I'm angry, I'll take a slight english/welsh accent which I picked up watching WAY too much PBS (Public TV, they played lots of Dr. Who, Faulty Towers, Monty Python, etc. etc. ) as a kid. :D
