So I'm thinking that I need something to do. I get home from work around 6:00pm and pretty much just spend the time from when I get home until I go to bed (around midnight) just watching TV. Granted, I like TV, I love the stories and I am definitely interested, but I want to do more. The problem is, I can't think of anything to do. I don't have any friends so just going out and hanging out at a bar with friends or something isn't an option. Anything I do would be by myself. I just can't think of anything.

Start writing.

Start a Youtube channel of TV reviews.

Start making a videogame.

Go to Meetup.com and find people doing nerdy things in your area.

Join a book club, look up what night classes they have in your area and choose something to go to; go to an animal shelter at weekends and help out by walking dogs, they always need people. Or join a walking group that go on hikes or take a cooking class so you learn to make yourself delicious meals. What kinds of things are you interested in?

Do you have a dog? Back when I was single I found having a pet very valuable as it forces you to think outside your usual box - go to the park, go to the pet store, etc...

Wow, you actually convinced me to open another browser tab and starting reading about "fire agate". I have never heard of such a thing.
I find the internet downright addicting at times because when I see something I don't know I start reading about it. I've lost many hours of every day doing that.
So, what's even better?

Geo-caching?

Seconded! This is a lot of fun!! I've only done it twice, a couple weeks ago, but I plan to again. I already like walking around outside, but having a goal as cool as treasure hunting makes is so exciting, and I was outside for a lot longer than if I were just wandering around listening to music.

I'm not sure if you're in a big city or small town, but where I am, there are a lot of young people involved in volunteering.

I started out with an interest in learning about recycling and composting, and became a compost volunteer at a community garden. From that I became a garden volunteer, and developed an interest in growing my own food and cooking. I also worked alongside people who were part of a local beekeeping group. I became a beekeeper, and from that have learned more about the environment and our local politics, which has helped me feel in touch with the city that I live in.

Volunteer organizations are excited to make use of whatever talents people have, so if you're a photographer and can come out and take pics at an event, or if you're good with computers and can maintain a mailing list or have a car and can help transport stuff, etc. you'll be in a position to help someone out while at the same time snagging some good learning/socializing experiences.

Still haven't been able to come up with anything. On Thursdays and Fridays, I go to a local game lounge and play board/card games, but typically, only guys show up. I'm expanding my pool of acquaintances, but I have yet to see a single, single woman come in that's near my age range. Various girls come with their husbands and boy friends and definitely enjoy themselves, I just wish they'd tell their single friends to come :)

Ah, well. Your original post didn't say anything about wanting to meet women. I still think a dog can help with that. Puppy play groups, obedience classes, dog parks, etc.

Meeting women is just a part of it. It's not the ultimate goal, with this, but it would be a nice perk. Maybe it's where I live, but that doesn't work much either. I have a dog and I take him for walks and typically, the only other people I see are moms with little kids, other couples, or high school age kids.

I've tried taking my dog for walks at different parks and beaches, but the problem I run into is the only other people there are moms with little kids, highschool/teens, or couples. I've tried going at various times during the day/week and get the same results.

Do you live in Seattle proper, or the burbs?

I actually live in Burien which is about 10 minutes south of Seattle proper.
