I'm thinking girls naturally tend to attract more helping type of attention than males, possibly more so in America. Maybe that's because 'weird' girls tend to be more normal / acceptable than 'weird' guys. Or maybe... it's because they're cuter, lol.

My best friend tried to do this at one point. She is a popular person and she always was trying to help me. Her intentions were good, but even she gave up. She's still my friend, so I'm assuming she likes me the way I am :D

yeah, i have been; and i still am a little, i think.
at juniour high i was indeed the 'slow', 'weird' guy that had to be ignored unless you wanted to prove you were the alpha male (by picking on the weird kid; real manly...)

now at college, my housemates at first really tried to get me to socialise and join in in all activities/parties, not realising they were actually making me worse.
after i opened up and told them about my AS, they stopped being pushy, but still tried to get me to socialise.

i did learned a lot from them, and i'm still learning. i'm happy to be their 'project' in this case, since they dont really try to change me, only to upgrade me to "me 3.0" after already getting me to 2.5 before
