An Acquaintance is some I have met, more than once or shared a significant event with (aka "this person I know)
A Friend is an Acquaintance that I like
A Nemesis is an Acquaintance I dislike (very rare, maybe 3 humans total make the sh#$list)
A Best Friend, (or confidant,) is a Friend I trust (very rare, currently 2 humans)
A Brother or Sister (not biological) is a Best Friend that I trust utterly and would rely upon in a crisis (2 people)

It's a hierarchy, apparently. I should distribute insignia.

I only consider someone a friend if they are someone that I get along AND spend time hanging out. Anyone else who I only see in a fixed capacity (work) is just an acquaintance to me.

I never call anyone a friend until they say I'm a friend. It resets after a certain amount of time without meaningful contact. Everyone else is an acquaintance -- except people I know from work, either colleagues or customers. I currently have one friend.
