I suppose that's true...

I've never really thought about it like that, before...maybe i should keep that in mind the next time this happens.

Thanks...You give some very good advice, by the way! :)

It's true Lene that it is normal that sometimes other people do not see us, because they are focused on something. If we want everybody to listen to us, we may thus be disappointed. But if this happens very often, there is something else going on, like I explained in my previous message, or maybe even some other explanation.

It does happen very often, but I believe most occasions were because other people didn't see me.

People don't see you because they don't see you ? We are going around a circle, no ?

Sometimes I feel invisible even on WP.

About the tone of the voice, here is a video on the halo effect. Here you can see a big difference in the effect on other people, using the same words, but with a different tone and a different body language :

Well maybe that explains it...I mean, I do speak in a largely monotone voice.

...To be honest though, I don't think the 'halo effect' necessarily always applies; I know a lot of people that do listen to me, regardless of my tone of voice.

well, that video did one thing: it showed me my lack of social understanding.
i watched it 3 times to make sure, but i didn't see any difference between the two halves of the experiment, none whatsoever...

You can better see the difference at 8:36 when you get the first version then the second version of the beggining of the interview.

first one : he smiles (his eyes show a realy smile, not only the mouth) and put his elbows forward. he puts warmth about what the interview even saying "stupid video".

second one : he doesn't really smile, he's face is rather neutral, and he doesn't move his body forward at all. he seems sad or anxious about the "stupid video".

Yes, some people do not care about this, but most people are affected by it.

I didn't really, either- to me if anything, I thought the "less enthusiastic" version of the video seemed to be the one I preferred...I can't believe that people think that deeply about the way people say words.

I watched it and both seemed pretty much the same to me and I don't see any reason to choose one over the other as better.

He might have seemed slightly goofier and more annoying in the first version than in the second version.
