I’m too lazy to talk to any real life friends I hate talking on the phone so we don’t keep in touch. I just see them at school and stuff. A good friend is a friend I can sit in a room with and not be expected to say anything too because sometimes silence is conversation enough.

I've never really had any...but it might start this Friday...now that I'm beginning to fit into a group at school.

I've actually never had an internet friend. The last RL friend I made was in Spring 2006, and I made four friends total in college. Before college, I hadn't made any new friends since middle school. My close friends in my hometown are all people I met in middle school.

I would have to say the the people on my Siamese cat site are as RL as they get. They accept me for who I am and don't think I'm crazy because of my love of cats.

The first time I made friends was in Grade 1 when my mother would tell me everyday before school, "Now I want you to talk to someone in your class today and make some friends!" So I talked to a girl... and I remember the conversation piece, "You like red apples? I like red apples too." So we became friends until grade 9, when everyone in this clique started disliking me. I don't have any idea why. I made some new friends in Grade 12, which was nice since I was friendless from the beginning of Grade 9 to the end of Grade 11. That's a very awkward thing, to be friendless at that age. I had to pretend like I was busy all the time, going to the library or walking in the hallways. Those friendships from Grade 12 did not last past highschool. I'm 24 now, almost 25, and I'm beginning to think that I just don't care to have friends. I like to be alone and have a boyfriend. I also like to have a cat friend.

Like 2-3 years ago. We actually didn't do a whole lot of activites. We went to the movies a couple times, but other than that it was just meeting at lunch and talking, and even that didn't happen very often.

Well, I have a boyfriend who is my best friend so if we're counting boyfriends yes I have a friend. I also have a penfriend but I've never met him so maybe that doesn't count as a real life friend.

As for other people, I have a tendency to meet people, get on well with them, assume they are my friends, then realise that actually they were just acquaintances. Whilst I'm in school/college/uni/work I get on okay with some people but as soon as I leave they don't want to keep in contact, even when they say that they do. I think a big problem with keeping real life friends is that I hate pubs and clubs and that's pretty much the only place they want to meet. I'm also a bit of a wuss when it comes to getting home after dark as I hate taxis and buses aren't the safest of things.

I've had some good real-life friends for a while now, thanks to my Tuesday night gaming group. Before that I had been virtually friendless for about five or so years - I'd had friendly acquaintances more than real friends.

Net-friends were a different story, though, as I had a large selection of net-buddies who I actually preferred to hang out with (in fact, Friday and Saturday nights were chat-room nights, which was when I did - and still do - most of my socialising).

By RL ("Real Life" as opposed to online) friends I mean people who you do activities with ("for fun") outside of school or work. For me, it will be 10 years ago this spring, meaning that I have not had an RL friend since I was 13.

I find that even maintaining online friends is also very difficult, and they usually do not last very long for me, even with people who I have a lot in common with and seem to get along with fine while chatting with them.

For me it is about 14 years ago, I had RL friendships (which lasted longer than, say, half a year. Once in a while I have had friends for some weeks or so). I also find that having friends is pretty difficult, for since I have become more self-aware, I am also more honest than ever and don't like pretending. Further it is hard for me to forcibly laugh or smile, I only do so if I am truly amused or happy. I don't like to go out, I don't like partying, I am not into anything common.
I tried some online dating for a few years now, but I am giving up on that, too. Online Penpals also didn't work out, I'm simply too frank when stating something about myself and I also don't want to deceive anyone. I have the feeling that very few people seem to share my interests or even understand partly my way of thinking. I found that here on Wrongplanet the average AS seems to have more in common with my way of thinking than elsewhere, but yet it is not much.

I assume you mean people you do things with regularly, not two or three times a year. I haven't had a friend like that since I was about 14. I'm now 28.

I have a couple now (though I am in college and the social is so intense 8O )

I was bent about changing my phone number a couple of days ago. After changing it (other than family) I only realized I had to call like 5 people to notify them of a change.

Eight years, I moved away from my home town, lost all the friends I had grown up with, and was never able to make any more.
