Never hang out with somebody just to hang out with somebody.

Even if you don't have mutual interests, it's possible to hang out with a person whom you actually like.

I believe, though, that mutual interests/mutual background are important in the preservation of a friendship.

You're probably right kraftiekortie. Sometimes it just seems like there are so few people out there that I can relate to. I don't want to be too picky when it comes to making friends. I remember in middle school the principal used to try to get me to make friends with the other kids and it just didn't work. We had no common ground.

I can be your friend. Well, over Skype or Teamspeak. I can also help you a bit with your social skills if you need any help. While I myself have somewhat of a social phobia. It is easier for me when it is only about talking to a group of maybe three people (tendency upwards when alcohol is in my bloodstream). I spent my entire life feeling helpless until I took matters in my own hands and learned at least the basics of social interaction on my own.

Yes, alcohol, the social lubricant. I'm not a drinker myself, perhaps that's what gave me autism.

Alcohol's actually the "anti-lubricant"--if you know what I mean.

[joke]I'm not a drinker, so no I don't. I need a thorough explanation, and I'm a visual leaner, so pictures would help.[/joke]

Well not all people react the same to alcohol.

I've had no friends going on Ten years now, so I get it. Just scattered online girlfriends that always end after a month or two and never go anywhere.
