AAAAUUGGH! Finally, someone has got it right! kiki3
I hate lying but, the whole world lies to us and everyone daily here's how.

Car sales men -the most obvious
Resume's -very common
News - well at least the OP page and politics
At patry's - to gain power and status
Marketing - they'll say anything to get you to try thier product
Income Tax - it amazes me how many get by with it
Dating - the one place people shouldn't lie but do
Coupons -in the paper are a rip
Employment agencies -who will tell you anything

I never could figure out the gray line between regular BS and lying. Mabey some of you could tell me what the difference is cause the way I see it, its almost the same.

I tend to lie too much these days, when I was a kid I never lied since I thought that it was wrong. But now that I´ve seen so many people do wrong, I decided to go along with them or I´d be left behind.

I could have written that. I did JUST the same thing... don't know whether it was to get attention (it got the wrong sort!) or because as a child I was very slow to learn to define between fantasy and reality. And, of course being very poor at reading people, I didn't realise or even think about whether I was being believed or not.

I can and do lie, although these days I'm much more subtle... like pretending to agree with someone I don't because they've got something I need. That makes me sound very crafty and cunning, but I'm not at all - I do it quite rarely, and only when I've actually sat down and thought through - sometimes with pen and paper - what I need to do in a specific instance. And I'll usually do it with online acquaintances, where there's time to think about what you're typing and edit it, rather than in real life which is just too fast.

I still shoot myself in the foot so regularly, I should keep some spare feet around. :D

:?:

I find it very very difficult to lie. It makes me feel bad and uncomfortable. I usually end up telling the truth soon after.

I used to make up stories, but they were so fantastic that no one could have believed them. Still, I had everyone convinced that I believed them, which is, I suppose, a form of lying. Now, I throw some lies around just to make certain that my colleagues don't believe the true things that I tell them. It helps to be able to unburden myself about some of the more extreme stuff that I've done, but if they thought that I was being honest, I'd probably be locked away.

I lie, but only for good reasons. When I'm busy and someone asks me what I'm doing, I always say, 'nothing', because I don't want to start a conversation about it or have people interfering, I want to get back to what I was doing as quickly as possible. I lie when it benefits me and doesn't hurt someone else, but I don't lie about anything serious.
I wish I could tell the absolute truth all the time, but doing so makes life that little bit more difficult and it's difficult enough as it is as far as I'm concerned.

I do that as well, although I don't classify it as a lie; instead I prefer to call it an "omission due to lack of motivation" Doesn't make me feel any better about it, though.

Anyways, about lying...usually I don't lie in situations because it doesn't occur to me to say likewise. If someone asks me a question, I'll blurt out the truthful answer almost immediately [sometimes to my detriment]. When I do find myself in situations where I have to lie, I tend to do it with difficulty.

Unfortunately lying is a skill one must learn in order to survive. I try do do it only when absolutely necesarry. Usually I try to find a way to omit as many details as possible to obscure the truth but not actually lie.

hmm, thinking on that, i realized i seem to be quite strange in not telling the truth.

i am absolutely guilty of telling someone the truth, although it hurt them. but then, these situations usually occur when a person i know asks me something - well, if he/she is interested in my opinion, i will tell them. when i ask for a friends opinion, i am prepared to hear something that might not be daccord with my opinion. so i think are they... (or need to be taught to be, when they ask me)

but then, i often simplify things, omit things, lie around things... just to keep everything simple and easy-going around myself. there may be not so severe issues like just mumbling some response that could mean anything but also completely made up stories or explanations, so i dont have to explain my rather complex motivations to people that wouldnt understand them anyway. (or who would understand but would still end with trouble for me).
i have been commented on those like "damn... if i hadnt been with you when you slacked off, i absolutely would have believed you that you were busy finding the way" - so i guess i am quite good at it.

i dont lie to people i hold dear, though. its a matter of respect and the personal feeling of "rightness".

I don't like to lie. Especially to my mother, who can see right through my lies anyway.
