Because art gets people talking. Sometimes, it can be beautiful. Sometimes, it can be controversial.

Art, sometimes, is almost like an inkblot in an inkblot test. The meaning of the inkblot varies amount individual people.

Do you have to post in 'display your artwork'? Or can you have your own thread?

That's a good question. I believe you could start your own thread--especially if it's accompanied by a good amount of your own words.

But: you should also "display your artwork" as well.

Just write down what inspired you to produce the art you are presenting. That's enough.
