I think I just found the best excuse for wearing normal, unpretentious, comfortable clothing. Seriously, wearing normal clothes is now a fashion trend!

I think not giving a f**k about one's appearance is one of the most "punk" things a person can do, and I approve.

I feel like I've mentioned my husband too much today so this is the last time I'll bring him up. The first time I met him, over 20 years ago, he looked like he had closed his eyes and randomly picked clothes items out from the closet. Not one item went with anything else. I was like, "Wow. Who IS this bold stranger?" That was what first intrigued me. Then he started saying hilarious inappropriate things and I was sold.
I understand what Alex and others are saying- you do need to blend in sometimes. It's good to get some magazines and have an outfit or two in case you need to fit in for a particular reason. But there's also something great about not fitting in.

I wore and still wear suspenders/braces.
Folks thought I was mimicking Mork, but I had those bright ones before Mork and Mindy.
These days I wear more conservative ones, even with jeans.
Ties (even though they aren't work required) from classy to Sponge Bob Square Tie.

I use to follow the 'preppy'/neckbeard stereotype style of dress - diamond sweater vests, dress pants and dress shoes, etc.
I've since started to experiment with new styles.
I've always thought I was decently fashionably smart, as my normal mode of dress is popular here among Australian 'bro's'.
This is my typical style, very normal/popular here:

These are some new styles I'm thinking of:
Style 1: http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=uW4 ... vowrijZgfM

Style 2:

Style 3:

My friends and I have always dressed completely different - no matches in style.
And, my goal has been to look as neutral and normal as possible, but still look attractive and stylish and to also stand-out a bit and look unique.
I'd definitely dress like this if I feel I could pull it off:

I'd love to look normal and not belonging to any stereotype or group (nerd, bro, jock, geek, etc.) but I feel 'Normcore' may look far too plain and ordinary.
Interestingly enough, I can easily pull off both a 'bro' and 'nerdy' look - both extreme opposites.
