They love to talk about their kids. I have no interest but if I say so they get offended and I get squawked at, so I just smile at them and nod. This lets them think I enjoyed their ancedote about their kid. Then I feign an excuse to leave.

A lot of is meaningless chatter, though much of it is often taken up by gossip and about local people they know. Food is often talked about too. :)
