I get shocked when a parent actually punishes their child for misbehavior because most parents I have dealt with on the job don't care how their kids act. It comes as a shock when a parent actually has my back with their kid.

I also get shocked when somebody gets reprimanded for unprofessional behavior on the job. I am used to people getting away with being slackers and being unprofessional because they come from a prominent family.

When people get what they deserve ... I gloat. There, I said it. I gloat.

Not publicly of course, but only among my inner circle.

I've also been known to say, sardonically, "Karma's a b***h."

Me too. A bully I knew as a child used to tell me things like "Reading rots the brain", or he'd hit me over the head with my textbooks and tell me that he was trying to "Beat some sense" into my brain. He later died of a brain tumor.

I like to read. He liked to play football. I drank Kool-Aid. He took steroids. I'm alive. He's dead. Life is good.

I am reminded of the sardonic wit of Clarence Darrow, who said "while I have not wished anybody any harm, I have read some obituaries with glee."
