Almost all children's shows celebrate friendship and/or family to some degree.

I never watched Digimon. I was more into Pokemon, which also had a heavy emphasis on friendship.

Thank you for starting this discussion thread.

I'm not aware of specific fiction books celebrating friendships.

I've personally gravitated towards towards thoughtful movies, and TV-series' that have celebrated friendships esp. from novel, quirky, funny, and even intellectual perspectives e.g., this sounds like a terrific TV series from Britain that would be a popular PBS-TV series here in the States; which might resonate with people on the Autism Spectrum.

Anyways, I'm not aware of specific fiction that has "struck-a-chord" so to speak - If such fiction truly "struck a chord," I personally, would probably get that boost of confidence to develop, and maintain friendships...esp. with like-minded people who also enjoy PBS TV broadcasts that celebrate friendships; which might include characters on the Autism Spectrum.

Not specifically about friendship, but I've been reading Dear Emma and the Eragon series. Both have pretty good story arcs about friendship (in addition to romance).

Any specific recommendations (not mentioned in this thread) for fiction stories, and films celebrating adult friendships?

Independent, and even foreign films might best "fit the bill" - as independent, and foreign films tend to avoid much of the superficiality of the mass-market.

Foreign-films provide subtitles - which literally spells-out the story-lines - that is, visual text cues may be helpful with the Autism Spectrum.

As I mentioned in my previous post in this thread (second previous post), excellent film productions celebrating friendships might encourage the development of friendships in real life esp. if it means knowing like-minded people who enjoy.................. excellent film productions celebrating friendships!

A lot of anime is good for this "celebration of friendship" ideal. That's great in a fictional setting but I don't know anyone in real life that has any "real friends".

Specific movies, TV series (esp. what would be suitable for a PBS series as mentioned in earlier post in this disc. thread) would not only be refreshing to watch in an ever crazier world, but might just encourage those of us struggling with HFA to "break the ice" so to speak to develop friendships; esp. with like minded people who enjoy..............awesome and refreshingly human PBS TV series.

These books come to mind:

- Cannery Row, by John Steinbeck
- The Remains of the Day, by Kazuo Ishiguro
- Treasure Island, by R.L. Stevenson

I still have yet to see that movie ... xD

Just beat Persona 5 and I'm sure anyone who's familiar with Persona anything knows that's a series that's also good for pumping the whole friendship motif

Hustlers is a movie about friendship between women. That part is fictional. Though the actresses became friends.

Any specific examples of how fiction (literature, and audio/visual movies alike) have encouraged confidence in developing friendships?
