yeah no kidding! i grew up in flint and there is absolutely no place for me there. it's a nasty, nasty environment. very damaging. IMO lower michigan should evacuate, rebuild, and start all over  just bulldoze everything from muskegon to port huron! yeah maybe i'm a little resentful!

I can think of two places. One of them is Amsterdam, Netherlands. One reason is that it's got plenty of legal drugs that elevate the mood and block out negative thoughts. Another reason is legal prostitution, so being frustrated wouldn't even be an issue. Third reason would be an open, tolerant culture in the country, where aspies could live at least semi-comfortably.

The second place would be Jerusalem, Israel. Due to its very strong religious significance, almost everyone starts acting a little crazy when they go there (some said that there's a certain vibe in the air). So if an aspie lived there and didn't act "normal", it would be dismissed as simple the vibe of the city taking its toll. And prostitution is legal in Israel too.

I live in Jerusalem, and I can tell you the herd in a small, religious, threatened country is as conformist as they come, and any tiny deviation from the norm is severely punished. Why would I be on WrongPlanet, otherwise?

Example: Not having children is seen as a severe deviation, and people without off-spring like me are seriously outcast, attacked and suspected. Where in California or London would you get this?

Other example: If you're often fired from jobs, the country is so small that everyone finds out and in the end you can't find any job anymore.

Third: if you told an employer that you had Asperger's they'd laugh in your face, not knowing and not wanting to know what the f^^^ AS is, and you'd be fired immediately, if only for admitting that you are different from everyone else in some sense. Btw, Asperger's is mostly unheard of here.

Not to mention that the (obligatory) army service for 3 years and then 1 month per year until age 45, is hell for someone with AS. If you can't conform perfectly to your group, you perish.

i think the best places would be either somewhere in scandinavia, iceland, canada or new zealand.. all of those countries have similar attitudes towards certain things. the environment is not completely destroyed and people there i have found to be a lot more laid back. they are well developed countries as well, it is extremely unlikely that war will break out on your doorstep.
if you remember lord of the rings (movie) it was filmed in new zealand,. well i forgot the rest of what i was going to say so yeah i guess.

I'm not sure what you mean by Aspie's haven, but I read on Wikipedia that Silicon Valley has the highest concentration of Aspies.than anywhere else. That must be because of all of the computer corporations located there.

The unreal. Aspies are very good at that . Perhaps only because there's nowhere else! Books and films and all that. Heaven.

Give me a powerful laptop and a traditional Japanese garden - one that includes water - at night, just slightly lit by those little lamps. This all might have to be put into a box though, or I might start feeling exposed in case I was concentrating on the laptop while outdoors.

I'd also probably like to live somewhere in New Zealand, in the middle of the wonderful nature.
