London is fairly central, that is why, but I don't see why some of those in Northern UK cannot organise their own event.

Well then they get to explore the UK a little more, and the more central location means that a different set of people can go.

London is not central, its in the south of the UK. Plus its the most expensive place to travel to via train and public transport, somewhere more northern is easier to get to.

One minute you go on about exploring, then you complain about expense
Getting to Northern England from the South West is VERY expensive, compared to London. Also, you can get to London from just about anywhere with relative ease - rather than making several dozen changes to get to a less popular destination.

My organisational skills are laughable, asides my style would be to spy on such an event, before deciding whether or not to take part in the next one.

From the north east? Its quite difficult to do so. Asides London is way too big a place for lots of aspies, somewhere more rural and less urban would be nicer.

Sure, that sounds fun :)

I think there is some confusion on the concept of meet ups. Meet ups are an informal, viral thing. It is created by whoever wants to organise it. If you want a meet up in the North of England then you can organise them. Meets differ from formal groups, there is no ownership of the meets. The will be specifics threads like this just simply to categorise a particular type of meet i.e. General London Meets. You can do special interest ones like I'll be posting some gigs in the meets thread and I will link to a separate thread for discussing gig meet ups. It is not everyone’s cup of thee but that is fine that is fine. There is no prerequisite for meets.

Meets can be inclusive, exclusive, big, small, local, nationwide, specific, general, etc.

I'd love to meet you. I suspect we all would :)

So that is a meet up for January scheduled.

Are you bringing your family with you?

i'm a little jealous you all met in london, just a few weeks after the one and only week i ever went to london of course ...

but i'm glad you all had a good time ! :D

and hope to be able to join your meet-up once in the future (not the near future cause i've got no money at all) it would be nice if they are announced some time before the actual meet-up, so that it can be planned when coming from farther a place.

We hope it will become a regular event, although we don't know how often.

I would suggest every second month putting the next on in October?
More suggestions welcome!

I'm looking forward to meeting you. My great-great-great etc grandparents were convicts on the first fleet ........ I have convict blood running throught my veins ...... better watch your things around me.

I'm going to Europe for 3 weeks all by myself! My husband insisted I take myself off for 3 weeks and have fun - it's been a particularly stressful year. He's an excellent husband!

I'm meeting Star in Amsterdam and we're going to travel together in Scandanavia. I wonder how I"ll cope with the weather considering I've never seen snow! I'll to buy super duper thermal underwear.

Then I'm going to Porgual to stay with my BEST friend - she moved to Portugal 18 months ago. She's going to show me around Portugal and see some of Spain.

Regards
Helen
