Ok cool.
So we are set on the 21st.
I would suggest a meeting time of between 1 and 1.30pm at the station. As far as I recall there is only one exit?
Only been there once unfortunately... be useful if someone can remind me of the layout as I only recall it to be a small station.

I would be up for that. Im a kinda coy person, but hey could be lots of fun. Winchester is ok, I spend a lot of time up there. Depends what everybody likes....

There are two exits/entrances to Winchester station, depends which end of the line you come from :-) However, the bus stop/taxi rank side is the side the city center is nearest too

I have looked at train fares from London to WInchester and they are £20, Megabus goes to a Park and Ride but there is not link to the town on a Sunday, so its not possible for me this time.

Sorry to hear that #kaleido. I imagine saturday would simply have been too busy for people...Chose Sunday as it has been the previous meeting day.

I think we should all...those coming...meet on the platform in that case, on the town side of the station.

Don't worry, can be coy myself too.
Look forward to meeting you if you make it.
Maybe you know of a place for coffee that will be open Sunday ?

£20 is a bit dear for the train, bit it will have to do. I can drive but I hate it and I get lost anywhere out of my immediate area. National express is doing it for around £14.20 return to the king Alfred statue wherever that is but I'm not sure I want the added hassle and time.

Would love to join u all, but no transport... the thought of the long journey on public transport with the dogs,... well... (words fail me)... However, going to try and get some sort of group together closer to here (Huntingdon, St Ives, Cambridge). Trawling thru' posts, looking for locals.

Ah, Winchester. I remember thee fondly from my university days down in Southampton.

... well, actually I just remember hearing about a bunch of drunken students from the School of Arts damaging a statue by climbing it to put a traffic cone on its head, but anyway.

I could do this in theory, but I'll have to check my diary first.

Hi Graelwyn,

Thank you so much for your message telling me about the meet you are organizing at Winchester. Unfortunately I have to meet my daughter's future in-laws that day, so I cannot make it. I hope everyone who goes to Winchester has a good day.

Best wishes,

Yoyo

Well,
I am not ready to meet up with anyone yet as I've only just joined the board, but consider me a possibility in the future. I live in Birmingham but have a car and am able to make it to most places in England/Wales/Scotland with some notice

I'm afraid I can't make it to the Winchester meet, but I hope it goes well!

Zarathustra, I'd be very interested in a more local meet, if you're still thinking of organising one?

Yea king alfreds tower is at the bottom of town, and about a 5 minute walk to the station. There are a few places open on sunday, so that should take care of that.. Let's just hope the weather holds nice :-)

There are car parks either side of the station, but im not sure if you can park there if it's not for train business. There is one not that far, on sussex street just a minute or two from the station :-)

I shall be getting train from Southampton, obviously, and arriving first.

I really do not want to do the whole carrying an orange thing... naw, I shall hold a banana aloft instead :P

No, seriously, I will not have anything, my picture is posted in various threads and will post one here before Sunday.

So thus far, we have

Time-between 1pm and 1.30pm ( I will pm phone number to anyone who asks for it so they can let me know if they are delayed.

Place-Townside station platform.

Date- 21st October, aka this Sunday

Duration- People can leave when they wish but usually seem to last until 7 or 8pm.

Coming so far:
