I can't talk on the phone to anyone except my mom or sister. I've always hated phones. I can't stand the sound of it ringing.

I used to be in complete terror of making / recieving a phone call when I was young.

My mother forced me to do it though, and after a long, stressing journey I became used to it.

No problem at all now. Glad my mom forced me after all. :o

My mom has forced me to talk on the phone a couple of times, I still hate it.

I don't answer the phone to anyone but family, it's that simple. There's apart of my job where you have to answer phones, and I just simply don't do it. I've gotten written up twice for refusing to do so..

I'd like to work at the bookstore but I might have to answer phones and I really really don't think I could do that. Do you just get other people to do it for you?

I work at the movie theater and in our box office (the place where we sell tickets) There's a direct phone line from random people that call us. People prank call this number an absolute ridiculous amount of times, and others just want to know if we have a movie.

Generally the rule is whoever can get to the phone first should answer it. I'd try to get other people to answer it, because I felt ridiculously uncomfortable to answer the phone. I just requested that I stay working in the concessions so I don't have to do so.

This is me, the only ultimate solution I have found is also to just do it. A problem with phones is generally a phobia, so basically the solution is to just do it.

One coping strategy which can be adopted for outgoing calls is to always ensure you have to hand all your points and any information that may be required before making the call. It is best to have it written down and not just in your head. This is more of a business solution. In the UK it is quite common these days for friends to use texts rather than calls. If you do this the recipient just thinks you have gone over your minutes or trying to save money, they won’t think you’re trying to avoid the phone.

I used to have a phone phobia where I couldnt make phone calls but I overcame that phobia when I started getting friends phone numbers. But I'd still rather talk to someone in person. The things that make me uncomfortable is within acquintances knowing whether its approprite to call them or not. So I perfer sending them messages over the internet or texting if its just getting information. To talk I've learned to only call people that are only relatively good friends or else its just ackward. When you want to leave the conversation for people I dont know is the most ackward. My aunt scolded me for not sayin thankyou and I had no idea I was suppose to.

For professional calls, I dont have much trouble, cause most times I dont know the person. As long as I just get what I want I dont care cause I might never see that person so whatever.
