How best to tell depends on the friend obviously, not two people are the same, and so a canned explaination just wont cut it.

I told my best friend (Whom I have known since age 6) shortly after I found out myself. "Do you know what Aspergers' syndrom is?" I asked him, and it just went from there.
I explained the symptoms. He probably realised where I was going, when I started listing parts of my own personality, because he said "Do you have this?" and I said yeah I did.

It was the happiest moment of my life when I found out that he had researched it throughly after our conversation. Nothing has changed in our relationship though, although I suppose he now has a way of explaining me to his parents

That's a good way to start off. I shall keep that in mind, thank you. I'm glad you were so happy with the result (of telling your friend). I hope you still get on with him well (I'm sure you do because you posted this very recently!)

Well I just infact told one tonight.I dont have a problem with people knowing but as long as they'll be accepting. Many times I just fall into that situation where it'll come to me telling them. Often its to explain things. I'll tell them if I know well enough that they'll be accepting. Often times Ive used it as more of an explanation for whats going on with me. Often I want people to have a better understanding of whats happening.

If there your real friends, they should be accepting towards you telling them this.

You seem pretty relaxed about it. I'm pretty relaxed about it too, but I just wanted to read how everybody else feels (well - not everybody else or otherwise there'd be 17 000 or whatever posts if that was so!)

I told my ex-best friend over im.

She knew about it (she somehow manages to be really smart and really popular). She is totally accepting and doesn't care at all. (I wonder why I was friends with her.... 8))

I can't wait to tell everyone I know! "Hey, there's a reason for my quirks, so there!" (Of course nearly everyone I know has issues of some sort or another, so it'll probably be not that big a deal - seriously, I'm practically the only one not on meds.)

Of course, that means I actually have to TALK to them. Bleagh.

I did, once. He made fun of it and called it "assburgers" all the time.

He eventually decided I wasn't worth his time.

When you say she doesn't care at all, do you mean she doesn't like you anymore?

My best friend is very NT. I just blurted it out like I do everything, and after questioning a bit, they seem to have accepted it.

And people think we are strange and ret*d!

I haven´t told many about my AS. I told one person. He is actually a rather annoying person, but he took it very well. :)
