If people aren't going to accept me for the person I am, and therefore I can't be honest with them, why are they worth my time? I know I'm not a bad person. Sometimes I'm a difficult person, yes, but not always, and I have my good points to compensate. There's no good reason I deserve to be understood and liked for myself any less than a "normal" person is. I will accept those I choose to be friendly towards as they are, and if I should continue any long-term contact with them, I should reasonably be able to expect reciprocality on that account. Otherwise, what kind of lousy friend are they?
