You don't need to remain so. It appears that particular user is of the sort I remember running into repeatedly as a teenager. They tell you to smile, they tell you to do this, do that, and people will respond. They sound like one of those old film strips they used to play in school... "How to Get Acquainted" and that sort of thing. Even if we already have heard that stuff and tried it, they act like we're not trying hard enough. And the number one thing they love to announce is that we're the ones who have to do something. Well, yeah, we can't control other people. We're also sick of being expected to make nice for people who treat us badly. There really are people in the world who are polite even when they think others are not. Let me tell you, that's a true test of of character. I can't count how many people have failed it when I have missed the mark and been rude to them (in someone's opinion).

Well, shoot, I never could force a smile. And fake smiles weird people out anyway. I can think of something funny, but that's about it. And so many of us just come here to talk about it, not to get a free motivational speaker. There's nothing wrong with just wanting to talk about it. I wish I knew why the world is so confusing. But it is also true that they don't get the right to make you into one of them in order to find you acceptable. Sometimes you have to put up with the way people are, even if they fail to notice you. I think it's their problem.

It's actually a nice switch to think of us as dealing with them instead of their attitude that they're having to be patient with us.
