Does anyone else hate talking on the phone?

I hate it so much. Plus I get really angry that people don't follow phone etiquette. As a child I was told to state who you are when you call the other person, ex. "Hello, this is Jane, can I talk to John?".

However nowadays it seems that no one, not even people at work follow this rule. I currently live with a family member. The other day someone called them and just asked for them by their first name, that's it. I said "who's calling?". They were offended "This is their doctor's office, I need to talk to them, etc". So I felt the need to apologize "we get a lot of telemarketers so I had to check" but why should I apologize when you won't even tell me who you are first?

It reminds me of one of my sisters who only used to call a couple of times a year and when I asked who she was she said "don't your recognize my voice?", uh, I never hear from you, no.

Yes I very much so hate it, I get anxious when I hear the dial tone I hate it so much!

If it's someone I know then I really like it. But I hate it if it's someone I don't know. I used to know a girl who would phone me every day for a chat and we could have been on the phone for anything up to 2 hours.

I have only recently been diagnosed with aspergers.. and then i found this site... it really is bizarre yet comforting knowing that there are other people like me out there!! !... i hate talking on the phone.. so much so i have the handset packed away and only plug it in every couple of days to see if i have any messages.. i never make phone calls to people i dont know uness i have to and then it takes me a long time to stop analyzing everything they said and i said...

If I'm on the phone, I'm immediately looking for something else to occupy me while I talk, so the boredom/lack of interest doesn't overwhelm me.

Too many awkward pauses when the dipshit on the other line has the nerve to say "hello?!" If you do not answer fast enough
