I keep having this vision of me walking around the park for ages looking for everyone (I think I'll have trouble recognising anyone from photos online), me having a mini meltdown (complete with swearing and possible crying) before walking back to my car and driving home peeved off......and hungry.....

SO.....

To avoid this scene from happening can we please pick a specific spot in the park to meet before we find a table & BBQ or whatever?

Good idea blue_bean. I don't know New Farm Park very well, but I do remember there being a really cool kids play area with huge trees. That could be a good meeting place, unless anyone knows anywhere better?

Oh, for numbers sake - I'll be a trio (my aspie husband and a friend of ours). :)

Well if we're having a BBQ then perhaps we should meet there?

They're right near the river/ferry terminal down the very end of Brunswick St.

:)

^^^^^^^^

Interesting she's in the medical field yes , Dr or Nurse ??

My Gp (ex) said it would (emphatically so) be a complete waste of time , I can't recall why since I was rather unwell when 1 st saw him. Since his just down the road from me and am almost sane now I might go and ask him why so ???

I guess his not all bad I told him I've just being diagnosed with AS and am having a massive mental breakdown, with almost no hesitation he put me on disability. :D

Fine with me!

How will we all know eachother?

Are we meeting at the BBQ's?

Unfortunatley I've been roped into sporting mutton chops for choptober.

:(

On page 5 of this thread is a photo (near the middle of the thread). Here be the link - http://www.wrongplanet.net/postp2664021.html#2664021 From right to left - syzygyish, me, my husband (all coming to this meet). I hope you're still coming syzygyish. It would be great to catch up again.

The BBQ's sound fine to me. I hope they're easy to find. I'll just be parking, then walking down to the end of Brunswick street and hoping I can find them.

Ahh.. I lose track of all these charity events. I'd only heard of Movember.

Does 12pm work ok for you syzygyish and blue_bean?

Also, found a map of New Farm Park - http://www.newfarmpark.com.au/park-map.cfm The BBQ's are right down near the Brisbane River. We can meet at the one on Brunswick street side...

12pm is kewl. Roundup point noted :)

Are we still going if the weather is bad?

I'll be leaving for QLD on Wednesday morning and won't be able to see this thread for any changes in plans if any occur. Is it ok if I leave a mobile number with someone?

If the weather is bad we could always just meet there and then go to the powerhouse (right next to it).

Looking forward to it!

And scared out of my wits, lol.

Oh yeah, the powerhouse serves drinks and a few little snackables. I saw Tim Minchin there last year. He's a singing, songwriting, piano-playing comedian. He made a joke in his performance about mildy autistic people not getting his humour and my husband walked up to him afterwards and told him he found his show very funny, so mildy autistic people do get his humour. Tim then told us that he was diagnosed with Aspergers. He said quite a few comedians are.

As for being nervous about the meeting - you'll be in good company. *grins* I suspect we're all a bit nervous. Meeting new people is hard, but from the previous meets, I've found it's worth it.

I hope so!

I've never met anyone else like me before.

Aside from my little sister, but she's 8.

So I'm sitting in New Farm park near the ferry terminal but I don't see anybody!

Did I mention that I'm really bad with faces?

Really should have grabbed someones number.

:(

We looked for you a few times... We were sitting at one of the picnic tables near the BBQ's. Do you want to try again? This time we'll make sure to have phone contact so we have no chance of missing you.
