Hey thanks. I was emailed by someone in queensland who said there was a day on.
I just emailed Stef (Evans) from ASA to find out.

I will let you know.
Apologies if I posted up incorrect info. :)

saying that...there is a Women and Girls Social Day in Brisbane in March. And this does not have bit registration fees, but is an informal get together. May be a bit far for some. But the welcome and invitation is there.

Hello everyone,

I live on the Gold Coast and I have just been diagnosed with Residual Asperger's. I feel relieved and happy :D. It would be good to meet others in the future sometime. I would especially like to meet other Aspie young adult females like me.

We're getting quite a few responses from people in the area. So, how many current WP members does that make on the Gold Coast? 4?

If it's a big group I'd be interested 8) I'll keep track of this thread OR PM me if you wish. :)

be honest, after reading all the posts I'm a little confused/overwhelmed, but that's because talk of socialising with so many people does that.

Ditto A lady member here who shall remain nameless said she used to attend the WP meet ups and the men their ether irritated her OR aroused her self pity ,if she where to meet me I'd more than likely irritate her AND arouse her self pity!

I cut and paste her thoughts in a "lack confidence thread" and she apologised  If I attend will I have these thoughts repeatedly going on in my mind?

Hi Catrina,

It Stewart, we meet at the last dinner. in Werribee.

It was great to meet you and all the other Aspies.

For me it was an amazing experience, all of my life I have hated social functions, but this was sooooo different, even though it went for 2 1/2 hours it seemed like 10 minutes, I was disappointed when it finished.

I have been trying to work out why I enjoyed it so much, and the only thing I can put it down to, was that I felt safe for some reason. When Im at a social function with NT's I feel threatened.

I'd be interested in a meet-up. I think Southbank would be a great place. We could bring along cards. I don't have any other board games, but would be interested if anyone did. My husband is also an aspie.

I live in New Farm right near the valley.

Would also be interested in a meetup.

Are there support groups for aspies in Brisbane?

I'm struggling a bit lately. :/

Hi there BrunDisium! :D

I Do know that there are groups in Brisbane. There is a Facebook group relating to Brisbane Aspergers group & they have a meeting in St Lucia. It ought to come up if you have a search on the name, or, you can always message me too for more Details. :)

(excuse my capital 'D's - computer glitch :) )

mysassyself says:

there's a chance there's others on my wavelength nearby (or, reasonably so)

Your in good company, especially so with your interests ,I'd say definitely definitely turn up. Social anxieties may stop you from coming which is a shame, lack of education stops me from attending, due to circumstances (ill health 8O ing) way out of my control I have nothing!

So yeah I might give it a miss except for reading, video gaming and love of animals :) so much so I chose not to eat them (I'm vegan) I seem to share nothing in common with the people here.

hi Brundisium, i am on the south side of brisbane. i have not attended any group meets as such, but i have managed to catch up with syzygyish and mysassyself :thumleft:

if you want to catch up; go for a coffee, sandwich, beer + burger, or whatever... shoot me a PM.

i can find social situations with new people difficult, so you will have to excuse some apparent (though harmless) weirdness. haha

Perhaps the four of us could meet up?

I feel a lot more comfortable when there's more people around, I don't have to come up with so much to say.

It's nice to meet people who are as uncomfortable as I am, it makes me feel more comfortable with myself, which is odd, but good!
