39, "low-mach"

There's nothing that really explains what that means.

66, only not

"Never tell anyone the real reason you did something unless it is useful to do so."

I strongly agree - and interpret the statement probably very differently from the author because to me, usefulness is not limited to material gain or gain of prestige.

I got 67....they called that high Mach, but I think what made me score higher was my learned high distrust of people.

You are not crafty enough to join the secret elite - I suppose.

I got 78 - High Mach.

Is the Illuminati watching this? Can I join you guys now?

That''s mostly because I have a dim view of the world and I do tell people what they want to hear, it means I don't have to put up with them. I am neither charismatic nor arrogant although I do make a good friend.

2 confused me. I put "3". I think that's situational. What do I want from this person? What things do I need? Always saying what they want to hear is exclusively catering to their needs. You don't ever get your needs met if you do not put them out there. But just thinking about the conditions where I would say "no" seem pretty Machiavellian.

8. I put "4" but I do think people will "work" just not "hard". Part of human nature is the desire to manipulate and create, that is to work. But given the option most people would not be working as hard as they are now. And they shouldn't. Working too hard drains a person's energy and can actually be shown in some studies to reduce productivity. Furthermore we could have a society where everyone spends all their time working and produce a lot of great things, but it's all worthless if people don't have any time to relax and enjoy those things to their fullest.

10. "2", the only reason I didn't put "1" is because you gotta factor in whether or not they are going to find out.

14. "1"-This world would be completely different is most people were brave.

16. Obvious NO. A lot of "good" is a matter of perspective, attitude, and presentation(at least to make others think it is good).

I don't get how 19 relates. I see a person's life as a matter of personal choice. While that choice effects others the "body" is the most personal thing someone has next to their "mind" so it is not right for me to dictate what they do with it.

My score: 93.

The funny thing is I often find it hard to put this into practice, but this is a new outlook for me. It will take some conditioning. I believe Machiavelli was in a way, a social genius. He truly saw what needed to be done to succeed in the social world. If I study him enough and copy him maybe I can finally maneuver to have the respect I deserve.

I had the same problem, using script blockers seems to break these things. Oddly enough I also scored 85

Maybe those of us that don't trust scripts have similar views
