It seems a good technique.
I can lie, but usually I prefer not to. I try to be evasive rather than lie. I don't make white lies, and I can't imagine convincing other a thing is good if I don't think that way. Sometimes it makes me upset when other people, for social reasons, make plans to do something together and then not commit to their words, although I know they can do this.
