I may be in the minority but I didn't care much for Jenny.

I was called Forrest Gump by a couple of my peers in high-skewl & I'm pretty sure they were making fun of me.

I liked her and identified with her to some extent.

She was protective of Forrest.

Jenny was a nice person, but she wasn't infallible. She fell victim to the urge to be worldly, and to be "in with the crowd."

However, it seems as if she was learning that "being in the crowd" was a futile thing. I feel like she would have been content to spend the rest of her life with Forrest--as the mother of Forrest Jr., and the wife of Forrest Sr--if she had not passed away.

She would have obtained satisfaction through being friends of people with conventional/creative intellect, with Forrest's blessing.

I think she was looking for an escape more than anything.

Remember Forrest stood up to for Jenny on several countless times and especially because she kept running after the wrong men who were probably in the image of her father. Despite being rejected and still loving and thinking about Jenny, he still managed to keep busy with his own life.

I'm sure she wasn't a bad person. Just didn't do much for me.

We all have tv or movie characters that we like or not like and possibly indifferent to.

This is awesome. Thank you. I’m still learning about all this and the input has helped.

I was in the Army. Favorite scene from the movie-
Drill Sergeant: Gump! What's your sole purpose in this army?

Forrest Gump: To do whatever you tell me, drill sergeant!

Drill Sergeant: God damn it, Gump! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160.

Nick07 - They probably were. But what did they know? Stupid kids who probably turned into stupid adults. The memories hurt but those people don’t matter.

There's a lot in the film that isn't stated directly. Life wasn't kind to him.

Tequila, you're right. I identify. Life certainly hasn't been kind to me either.

I didn't realize they were making fun of me at the time. I realized years later that various people in my high-skewl were making fun of me in different ways but I was just to ret*d to realize it then. It doesn't bother me that much.
