in fact, wp is the only forum thing iv actually posted more than twice on, so hooray for me.

I guess after a while i got more comfortable with posting, im still not great at it but iv got over 50 in 2 months so its all good.

and usually when i go to post something, and i've just finished typing the whole thing out i erase it and just leave....

I lurk a lot, but I've been trying to push myself to post even though I might think my post may not matter, someone else may think it's helpful.

I quote you because even though I have a mind filled with things that could end up as a full-length essay, I just can't make myself write them down.

I have so far edited that sentence three times.

I'm glad I read this .

I decided to make a final post for the session to see wht new ranking I get I'm at (something 99now)

Now I jsust have so much to say my hands get tired.

I got a computer six months ago and immediately started looking up info on AS which led me here. I'm some times more active here than others, but once I got over my first posting on a computer ever I was off.

It seems computer imitates life where I talk too much there too, I mean here.

I often read a lot of you guys are socially quiet. I wish I could be a little more like that. Ok a lot more .
Any other AS out there that ALSO talk too much?

I see a lot of people don't use the phone much either. There a friend recommended I set a timer because I go on too long.

[quote="RedMetal"]As someone who lurks more than he actively participates in conversations here, I feel it best I state my own reasons:

I haven't been a member of Wrong Planet for very long, but I do tend to only ever feel like posting when I encounter a topic to which I feel I can contribute. Even then - when I find such a topic - I usually spend far too long figuring out what I want to write as my reply. I am very self-conscious about my writing.

Also, I often feel very insignificant. Many of the people who post here seem far more interesting than I am, or ever will be. I don't have a particularly active life, and I don't have much to be proud of right now. :( [quote]

Hey im like that too. I dont have many interests to talk about. For years i have mostly been stayin inside playing computer games, i really gotta get out of the house more >_<.

Lurker – absolutely. It’s not intentional, but the forum is so large and active that by the time I have got around to skimming, not even managing to read existing posts in any great detail, I have already spent so much time. This is a problem when I feel obligated to read posts and understand people properly before contributing.

Forums of this size can become so time consuming, but I should still make a greater effort this year. But this will eat into time that could be dedicated to my latest interest. My time management and time it takes to do anything is terrible.

i post when i feel i can contribute to the conversation. I'll find threads interesting and read them the whole way through and not post because i don't think i've got anything important to say, or i'll have an idea, type it out, then reread it and decide it's poorly written, delete it, and decide i'm too lazy to rewrite it properly.

I find i'm very critical of my own writing, and i find my writing very personal so i don't always like sharing it with peers but i don't find i have that problem online because it's a more informal setting where stuff doesn't have to be written perfectly (although some people take that to the extreme haha) so that doesn't really hold back my posting.

Yep, I'm a big "lurker" as well...

Both online and in real life, I tend to have a "Do not speak unless spoken to" mindset.

I don't talk much.

First post, yay! :D

Just in case I go down in WP history...er something.

I am a lurker. Most any board I have been a part of, I lurk...

I will spend hours reading a thread, only to find that it hasnt been responded to in months... years.

But, with AS I have been doing my own research on it for about three years and have committed to battling the 'symptoms' the best I can.

I have faked my way to many times only to crash and burn before running off into the night. So, if I appear flaky, it is because I am.

I just signed on last night... But I have been lurking!
