This happens to me but I see it happen to alot of people, not necessarily just aspies.

It mostly happens to me when my mind is on a "mission" and somebody interupts that "mission", so to speak. Like if I'm going to meet with somebody very important and I see people I know on the way and they try talking to me, I never know what to say because of my one-track-mind. All I'm thinking about is what I'm trying to do, so usually when that happens I just stick with a "Hey whats up" or even just a "Whats up"

I sometimes stutter and stumble when speaking.

I have a hard time. I don't really think in terms of words, so when I try to speak my thoughts it comes out horribly wrong. Lost in the translation.

Same here. It has been a block to relationships of all kinds. It is especially bad if I have been concentrating on my work - drawing and painting - and someone starts talking to me. Sometimes it's hard to have any words come out at all, and I end up staring, which looks pretty strange to some people. I claim it's because I'm "right brained"; some NTs understand that more or less, and I'm somewhat less embarrassed. My kids just think I'm funny, they know spoken words don't always work right for me, which is fine. I don't even know I do it until it turns up I've said the opposite of what I thought I was saying.

A lot of times, mainly because my mind moves a lot faster than my mouth so I communicate better in writing than face-to-face with someone. When I stumble over my words, it becomes either babbling or utter nonsense.

So, has a gay guy ever responded "Thanks, I think I will have a dude."?

I know that my punctuation is technically incorrect, but doing it correctly would have caused the question to be read incorrectly.

I do this when I'm excited. I try to laugh it off with some comment about my mouth not keeping up with my mind. It can be pretty embarrassing.

Oh yeah! That's me. I'm always trying to get 5 different sentences out all at once. Somes that results in part of a word from one sentence being merged with part of a word from another sentence. When coupled with I usually change tracks for my responce mid-responce it doesn't help matters any. It used to plague so much that I just wouldn't say anything at all if I found myself in a social setting. Now that I know why I do it I just stop what I'm saying, tell the person "let me rephrase that" and start over. After that I usually manage to get some coherant sentence out.... I least I think it's coherant.

haha ... this happens to me all the time.

I remember once I was working for this pr firm as a receptionist and as the vice president of operations was leaving for the day I said "Have a happy weekend".

What I meant to say was "Have a nice weekend" well, anyway, she just would not let it go even though she knew what I meant by it.

I still get slightly embarrassed at that memory.

I do it a lot to. My favorite from today was

'(fword) the hell with everyone else'. I confused myself and my friends with that one. I never swear normally either, so it really was weird for me. Also on the bus i asked 'Can i have a lincoln to Single' lol. My friends laughed at me :( Was embarrassing.

Is it part of AS? We all seem to have it in common.
