Greetings fellow aspies and aspie friendly fellows,

Talking to more people on the spectrum and people who are not on the spectrum but have experience with people who are, would be very interesting. I admit, at this time I do have two specific reasons I want to meet more aspies. (I am going to write a speech on ASDs, public perception, and the influence of the media over the summer, and I am trying to develop a system to train the aspie ESL student I tutor to take his own notes and organize himself enough to get a job)
That said it may be a good thing for me to acquire more friends for general reasons.

Age: 19 years

Sex: female

Occupation: college student and tutor

Main goal: become a research-physician.

Interests: Human behavior, ants, Asian ball jointed dolls, biological sciences, and learning (differences in learning patterns between different people and animals, etc.)

I find physics and astronomy very interesting, but would not call them special interests.

Note: I usually harbor one temporary interest which is a little strange compared to my other interests. The interest can last a few weeks or months at a time. A recent one was the food, marmite.

I have asperger’s, and I have asperger’s traits. I know people with asperger’s syndrome vary, but I am not very good at explaining my disposition. Perhaps I am nerdy, reserved, serious, intense, and, at times, clueless. People who know me have compared me to some “interesting” fictional characters. I have been compared to Hannibal Lecter, Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, and Batman (the last one confuses me the most).
I do not go out much; however, I enjoy museums and, sometimes, malls for people watching.
Currently, I live with my parents, brother, three cats, and dog in a rural town about an hour outside of Houston. For those who know the area, I live in Northern Liberty County.

I will talk to most people online, and I prefer using MSN instant messenger. However, someone close by would be interesting as well. I would most enjoy someone who shares my interests and will aid me in conducting “experiments.”

I'm new to this site & I do not officially have Asperger Syndrome but I've been suspected & tested. I have a lot of AS characteristics but the cause could be different(long & complicated story that I'll gladly talk about). I'm 27 & don't have many friends online & even fewer offline & that's the main rezone I joined this site; I'm looking for friends & a relationship. I'm not sure what else to say at the moment but you guys can check MySpace link in profile here for more info & if anyone wants to know more; Please message me here. I like chatting

Hi everyone!

I'm Vikki, there's some info about me on 'New Member Vikki'.

But here's a bit more:

I am 42 years old. I live in the UK. I have a younger sister, and four nephews. I was diagnosed with AS in January 2009.

I have three close friends whose friendship I wouldn't be without.

I go to an Asperger meet up every month, and have met some new people, was nervous at first, but now I look forward to it. You can be yourself, whilst feeling comfortable in their company.

It takes me a while to trust people, as I was bullied at school. But I'm hoping that with these meet ups that my confidence will improve.

My interests are: reading, watching tv, listening to music, riding my bike.

I like cats too!! My obsession is dolphins - I have a collection of soft toys, ornaments, pictures etc. and I am hoping one day to see dolphins close up.

Music: Madonna, Kylie, Bon Jovi, Westlife, Mariah Carey, Duran Duran, George Michael, amongst others.

Reading: Jackie Collins, Danielle Steel, thrillers/whodunnits etc.

TV: Numbers, Criminal Minds, House, Damages, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver also British crime dramas/cooking shows/reality shows.

I look forward to making friends with you!!

Vikki ****

Hi everybody, my name's Jack. I'm 22 years old living just outside Toronto, Canada. I was diagnosed with AS in March of last year.

I'm a bit of a strategy game fanatic, as well as being big into reading all sorts of stuff. Socially I'm a bit awkward (aren't we all?) but very friendly. I like to spend time with friends and meet new people. Seeing movies, getting drinks and having fun with friends are some of my favorite things to do.

Music-wise I'm fairly flexible, as I can get into all kinds of stuff from Matchbox Twenty to Thousand Foot Krutch to Disturbed. Genre matters very little to me - it's all about how the music makes me feel.

South Park, Fringe, Smallville and Supernatural are a few of my favorite TV shows.

Here's to hoping that we can be friends! If anybody ever wants to chat (especially people in the same general area) feel from to drop me a Private Message.

J

Hey everyone,

I am a 27 year old male and highly suspected aspie. I'm am married (I know, shock! faint!) with 3 kids, at least one of which is a major aspie. We live in Denver, CO and generally have a fun time. How I got married is a mystery, except we believe my wife to be at least half aspie as well or at least having some PDDNOS/HFA spectrum traits. Enough that she can deal with me and all my antics.

I am a web and application programmer and major code geek. I am learning my 14th language/framework and can not get enough code! I code 8+ hours at work then go home and code all night as well in side projects, other languages, etc. because I was made to do it. I love code. I love research, problem solving, etc. and building apps that make a difference in people's lives.

If I were to drop dead right now, I don't have nearly enough people I actually know, love, care for, or hang out with who would carry my casket. I would want 6 girl robots doing that anyway. I am extremely passionate about God, Jesus, life, truth, and I think though I don't bowl people over with it, I see in all black and white, and people don't like that. I don't yell, I just talk about my point of view as any NT would, however nearly everyone is too shallow to have a deep relationship, enough to be called a friend, or they think they know me, and have a fix on me, which is never the case. I keep caring and trying to hook up with good people, but it always seems to disappear after a while, with no explanation.

I continue to not understand that, but perhaps some of us can and will become friends here. If not I will just be sad and wonder what friendship is. Thanks!

Make sure you start being aggressive with responses, as even in a world of aspies, we each have to sell ourselves.

Count your lucky stars, my good man. That type of relationship does not happen to many of us aspies.
And with 3 kids!?! 8O I shudder to think how someone like us could handle that situation. Good luck keeping up.

You sound like me from 4 years ago, before the dark times... before outsourcing.
I'm glad to hear someone with your skill-set is able to still keep a career going in that field. Perhaps you can keep hope alive for us ex-web programmers -- maybe we could go back a career like that some day.

The existential question for all of us aspies. Please let us all know if you find a solution

Howdy everybody. I have Asperger's Syndrome.

Gender: Male
Age: 22
Location: Near Toronto, Ontario Canada
Interests: Movies, music, video and computer games, electronics, some sports (depends on my mood), philosophy, hanging out with friends
About me: I was diagnosed a little over a year ago with Asperger's. Up until then I'd been diagnosed with a bunch of stuff ranging from early Schizophrenia to Attention Deficit Disorder to Bipolar Disorder until finally my family and I found a professional that knew what he was doing. Within a couple months I'd been correctly diagnosed for the first time - with Asperger's Syndrome and pretty severe Social Anxiety Disorder.

Personality wise, I'm friendly, a bit shy (at first, at any rate) and kind. I'm quite generous and very loyal to my friends and family. I have a tendency to want to impress people (be it friends, family or even relative strangers). I'm very talkative, yet also good listener. I love to go out and hang around town, eat at nice places, see movies and have fun. Physically I'm fairly tall (around 6'1"), of an average to medium build with a bit less muscle than I'd like (but I'm working on it, don't worry! ). I'm also working on getting a tan. :P I have dark hair, blue eyes and closely shaved facial hair.

If anyone in the area wants to hang out, grab drinks or whatever, feel free to shoot me a PM. Attractive, single females preferred (kidding! Well... sorta).

I'm looking for people who don't refer to everything to do as "aspie" this and "aspie" that and instead blame themselves for everything they've ever done wrong!
:P

really, just liking baseball would be enough...

Hello, Auriya. (Love the WOW avatar, btw.)
You're at the right place, as many of us here don't have a surplus of intimate relationships. But, that's what WP is for.
If you'd like to meet some of the people on here, make sure you start posting new topics and reply a lot. Even here, you have to sell yourself -- but it's not that difficult, all things considered.
See you around!

Yeah, I've noticed a number of cases like yours, now that I'm working with adult ASD cases. I'm glad to hear you did finally get the diagnosis you need. Good luck, and make sure you start posting some new topics here on the forums.

I'm in between the 2 boards I guess, I turn 19 july 4th.

I "enjoy" fencing, hockey (most other sports), pc gaming and IP LANs, science research, airsoft, wargaming, reading, politics and philosophy.

I was diagnosed before my last year of high school, and am still struggling with the change in perspective and expectations. I was professionally encouraged to pursue more relationships after diagnosis but I have found it to be extremely taxing without much reward or internal "improvement" as far as emotions go.

I'm attending university in Canada and just finished my first year.

Right now I'm working as a student researcher but very bored and very tired of milling over the dis-merits of my eccentricities. I could see the merits of meeting and talking more with people sharing similar challenges and that's why I'm here.

I see you have no problem finding interesting things to study. Try starting new topics on your interests, as that's the best way to meet everyone here.

Hey guys! I'm Cad...
Gender: female
Age: 20
Location: Australia
Occupation: uni student, studying chem
Interests: chemistry and geology, anything to do with art, architecture and buildings, I paint and make comics, playing and writing and listening to music, boxing/martial arts, i love animals and people, going for long pointless drives to nowhere...and being outside...
About me: Diagnosed with AS (doctor said 'some symptoms of AS...i don't want to label you...labelling people is bad...' but parents sort of kept me in the dark about my diagnosis) when i was 12, others tried to diagnose me with bipolar ha ha!! and I'm slightly neurotic and have anxiety and anger issues...
I'm a friendly outgoing person, although people say i look very unfriendly and I'm ridiculously sarcastic to the point they don't know whether I'm being serious or not :P Generally, I'm just a laid back Aussie with a bad sense of humour who's kind of weird :P
