you are just as likely to hear snatches of conversation about nuclear physics are you would about the latest sci-fi movie or video game. a good deal of politics also. it is large enough that you have a cocktail party effect, IOW go over to the clique which interests you the most. too bad i can't make it up there as it is a 3-hour drive for me. i almost forgot to add, they usually have good food also

There's a couple of smaller spin-off meetings in the area as well that are lower key than the Seattle one; I'm going out to Des Moines later today for South End Square Pegs. There is an Eastside group, but it meets very occasionally, as they've had problems finding a consistent location. I would highly recommend making it out to the Seattle meeting at least once, it's the biggest in the area, and certainly has the best food and view . It really is like an extremely nerdy cocktail party for the most part, though if you want support or info on getting through the state system or something there's usually someone there who can help you out with that too. Mostly though, they're just a lot of fun; last week was Mardis Gras and we got a Japanese exchange Aspie loaded up on gumbo and jambalaya and then plied him with whisky... good times!
