Name: Elana
Age: 20
Location: Northeast Ohio
Hobbies and Interests: Physical Anthropology,
When were you diagnosed? Last Summer and it seriously bothers me that it took this long to get diagnosed.
Year/Grade: College, working on general education classes online.
Favorite music: I listen to a LOT of soundtrack music and a lot of UK rock.
Books: Mostly Science-Fiction. Frank Herbert, Isaac Asimov, Michael Swanwick, H.P Lovecraft, J.R.R. Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Scott Lynch, George R.R. Martin, China Mieville
TV shows: Once more: Mostly Science-Fiction. Star Trek TOS, TNG, VOY, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel, Supernatural, Doctor Who, MST3K, Big Bang Theory, Futurama, Dexter, True Blood, Avatar: TLA, Arrested Development, Misfits and quite a bit of anime.

Clothing: Usually jeans or corduroy. Screen-printed tee-shirts/long-sleeved solid undershirts.
Job: No, though I need to find one to pay for school.
Plans for the future? I have no intentions of finishing college until I get my Doctorate. I'm working on a degree in Physical Anthropology and hoping to move in a more forensic direction around Graduate school. Issues with social interactions have made it so I'm taking my general education courses online so I don't have to deal with some of the anxiety symptoms before I end up pursuing my goals.

Any comments? Feel free to PM me. I'm stuck at home a lot lately and on MSN/IM a lot with a new webcam.

Hello,
I'm a 21 year old female college student in NYC, studying architecture. I'm also interested in reading/writing, history/politics/current events, film, and I've dabbled in computer programming. I seem shy on the surface and I have trouble finding friends ... I have a few acquaintances who I sometimes do things with, but a lot of the time I feel like a hermit and it's really lonely. :( I would love to find some like-minded people to talk to! I thrive on intellectual stimulation, but I also just need to have more fun and silliness in my life ... either type of activity would be great. Send me a PM if you're in the area and want to meet up somewhere in the city for a coffee or snack or something.

Also, if there's enough others in NYC reading this thread, a group meet-up would be awesome too and I would definitely come.

Hello everyone,

I'm a 24 year old female college student, majoring in 3d character animation. I live in San Francisco and haven't had much success connecting with people in the city. I enjoy art, science, music (although I'm picky on that), delicious food and ballet. It would be nice to either establish a correspondence on here with like-minded people or possibly talk to someone in the area to meet up with and do something like visit museums or enjoy the park. I also really enjoy drawing/illustration and would enjoy talking to anyone interested in that.

When were you diagnosed? When I was 11.

Hi.

My name is Ryan, age 30. I am currently residing in Lewiston, Idaho, and have been for the last few months since I started my career as a wastewater operator. My likes are metal music, meditation, yoga, singing, guitar, microbiology, my syndrome, photography, and wanna start working out again and start kayaking, pottery, writing and drawing. I do have friends but none are here. My best friend (my blood) along with the rest of my family are still in Michigan (where I'm originally from) and the others are in New Mexico, where I just left after graduating college in water technology. Yes, it is hard making conversation at times because of my poor vocabulary skills, plus a high dose of fear in the mix-not a good combo. But I am currently looking for language skills courses, and refuse to give up. Wouldn't mind making a few friends, I know there is plenty of you out there. Hell, everybody needs and should give

Greetings from Harrison Township, Michigan!

My name is Shirley and I am so happy to find the Wrong Planet. I am an Aspie and I have an Aspie son. I had no idea there were so many of us out there. I have been busy reading posts and catching up with all of you. It is great to know there is a place where we can be ourselves with other atypical individuals and discuss topics of vital interest to us.

I'm a homebody these days, but I used to work as an admin. assistant/bookkeeper/payroll/purchasing specialist for many years. Very mundane, unrewarding work. I don't recommend it if you have a choice. I love the outdoors and hiking, backpacking, camping, gardening and nature. I have been hiking for 28 years and have hiked all over the American Southwest. I would do nothing else given the choice. I think I love it so much because I, (and my son too when he was little), could always escape from the pressures of the never ending battle to 'fit in'. When I am in nature I see nothing but beauty in the world. A nice place to be.
I don't like TV, I don't get it. Reality shows are someone else's reality, not mine. I like the computer, movies and books. I like to watch a lot of foreign films from all over and to read books on spirituality, philosophy and psychology.

I struggle with knowing exactly what people mean when they talk, especially when they talk rapidly. Also I don't understand the hidden meaning in their expressions and body language. It's not nearly as hard for me as it used to be, but maybe it's just because I don't care as much as I used to. If I decode in error and I am inappropriate I used to feel horrible. Now I know it's not that important and I think tough tooties!

Did I mention I like hiking? haha Excited to get to know you!

Hey everybody. I'm 22, male, from Montreal. I'm a college student and I work a couple of part time jobs from home in addition to a crappy full time job I travel to. I speak English and French, and I dabble in German and a few of the latin languages. I'm a pretty content person and am always happy to listen and be good friend or offer constructive advice. I am very interested by history, anthropology, evolutionary history, astronomy/cosmology, geography, sustainability and several other topics. I love the outdoors. I play several instruments and I also love to read and write. I'm a fairly solitary person but I do value human contact and despite my innate aspie-ness I think I am very compassionate. I haven't lived that easy of a life because of my eccentricities, and I decided the best way to cope is to look past that and be the change I want in myself. If anyone wants to chat about anything, no matter how random, I'm here
