Funny story. I talked to my younger-but-older sister one night before she was about to go out. I told her to not drink because alcohol is bad. Mark my words, that same night she got completely drunk and had her credit card stolen!

I see nothing fun about bars and booze. It makes no sense to me. Everypne gets so drunk and they have orgies of people barfing... not my thing.

I've never been to a party like that, where loads of people I barely know get drunk. The only parties I've been to have been small occasions, with a handful of friends. I don't think I'd much care for the type of party that people here are describing.

The only sort of 'party' that I've ever walked away was my end of school formal. There was lots of loud music so nobody could talk to each other without yelling, which to me seems absolutely idiotic. So basically I ate my meal, sat around for a while straining to hear people, then finally gave up and told people I was leaving. The event was a total bore and a big waste of money.

About alcohol, I do not personally like the taste of it. I certainly do not drink it around other people, for fear of doing something really stupid (which has happened before with very bad results). The only time I drink it is when I feel really down, which of course is a bad idea. But generally I do not even do that anymore (at least, not for the last two years).

I went to a club when I turned 18 with some friends and I hated it. I knew I didn't really like dancing (or at least the silly excuse for dancing that goes on in clubs) but I thought maybe with the right music I could get into it. Wroooong. The music/bass was so loud it was like I could hardly breathe  Couldn't hear anything my friends were saying to me, and of course couldn't hear anything but buzzing when we left. I can see how people who are naturally inclined to dance when they hear music could like that atmosphere bt ti definitely wasn't for me. I think some people just wnat to do things with one another, as a group, and they think they are somehow bonding even if they aren't talking to each other or having any sort of meaningful interaction aside from being in the same room listening to the same music at a deafening volume.

In the alternative, does the Orwell quote I posted better describe real fun?
