I don't know anything about any trains...

Its just a joke, :) , allow me to enlighten you :) -during the 1980's & 1990's , local trains that served london & the south east/west were operated by network south east trains

Here is the plan for the day of the meet-up (Saturday, 15th September):

10:45 am Meet at the Natural History Museum (black triangle on the map below). Here's how to get there: http://goo.gl/maps/w2qRo and http://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit-us/getting-here/index.html

Image

If you can't get there on time please send me a PM, preferably in advance, as I can only receive messages when I have access to a wi-fi network. If you send me your phone number I can call you and say where we are.

11:00 am - 1:00 pm Natural History Museum

[1:00 pm - 1:30 pm journey to Charing Cross by tube]

1:30 pm Chandos Pub (the same place as last time on 4th April, it's hard to find a better pub, according to the comments), it can be found here: http://goo.gl/maps/tSeoL

We will try to stick to the above schedule and be at the Chandos Pub at 1:30 pm but I can't warrant that, so again, try to contact me through PM or phone, if you want to know where we are, or wait until we turn up there (probably upstairs). :)

I've hardly seen any responses to this. I wonder if many will turn up.

I must try to get to a London based meet up at some point. The >300 mile journey does not phase me that much (unless I was travelling by bus which would be hideous), only the cost (especially as I would want to spend at least two nights in London to make the journey worthwhile) would be fairly high.

It would be great if you could somehow manage the trip and come to the meet-up.

I wish I still lived in Reading I'd totally be there for the meet up, Sadly I can't mostly because it's over 100 pound for a one way train to london from Edinbrough. But out of curiousity . . . Why aren't there any famous pubs on the list. . I mean I don't know any but it's like a Meet up in dublin with out the option of the Templebar.

You know what they say Alcohol is liquid courage, and makes ya socialy brave.

Next time I'll put a poll about the place for a meet-up it will be all about pubs, I promise. ;)

Sorry- I was talking more about the future, I am not in a position to make it in the near future. Whilst I have the time at the moment, I don't have the finances. When I get the finances, I am unlikely to have the time.

I would want the trip to double up as a few days holiday which would increase the cost by quite a bit.

[I would be glad if the conversation would be about the meet-up, sorry]

I had fish&chips for lunch in Chandos yesterday, it's a charming, very nice, friendly place. The beer and the meal was good and reasonably priced. Despite the final day of paraolympics the pub wasn't crowded upstairs.

The meet-up will definitely happen, so everyone is welcome. Please come, if you can!

*** REMINDER ***

The day after tomorrow (Saturday) will be the day of the meet-up. If you'd like to come to the Natural History Museum come to the main entrance at Cromwell Road at 11 am. We will wait for a few minutes but please don't be late. There's an underground walkway to the corner of the museum's park from the tube station (South Kensington), you can just follow the signs. If you're not coming to the museum, you can join us at The Chandos pub at the eastern side of the National Gallery (see my earlier post for a map). According to the plan we will be there from 1:30 pm. Look for a way to upstairs OUTSIDE of the building, we will be there.

I will wear a blue jacket and an orange packpack, so I guess I will be easily recognisable. ;)
