I alwys have talked to myself. If I didn't, I couldn't concentrate on what I'm doing. J.C.

I refer to myself as "we" all the time in conversation. Makes people wonder...

Yes, very frequently, but not usually in public.

Yes, whenever I am thinking something especially interesting I will talk or mumble to myself. This happens whether I am in a public area or a private area.

I was always taught that talking to yourself was a sign of intelligence. So long as you don't respond.

I always talk to myself aloud whilst alone, as I find it comforting. Sometimes I feel as if someone is actually listening to me. When in public, I talk to myself mentally. It's as if I am in a film and I am the main character who is speaking in first person.

I don't talk to myself so much as I think aloud.

"D'I turn the TV off?"

"What'd I come down here for?"

Stuff like that.

No. I sometimes forget what my voices sound like.

I've got more than one voice....

One oddity of mine that has kept me in a social pickle is how I frequently talk to myself when I'm concentrating on something. It seems as though if I dont say a few words to myself as I'm doing something I'll actually forget what I'm doing and have to stop and think about it for a few seconds, which just feels stupid.

This becomes a real problem when in a classroom setting trying to concentrate on a math test, for example, because I find it easier to solve the problem if I speak parts of it out first... which drives others, and not to mention the teachers, crazy. Its like its my only way of communicating with the other half of my brain.

Anyone else have this problem?

To be honest, I actually talk to myself when I'm alone.
See, I barely have any friends, and most of the people I consider friends don't even talk to me.
I find myself as my own best friend, and talking to myself helps get things out.
So, you are not alone.

I do it all the time, but usually just inside my head. I talk as if there were two or more of me and we are friends. Its much better than feeling alone.
