Are there any museums you want to go to that are near a park or an outdoors area? I hate to waste nice weather :-)

I'm sure there's loads. But maybe we could visit something that is partly outdoors - what about London Zoo or something? Before the school holidays and it's crammed with annoying kids.

Also, Kate, if you are coming from Kent SouthEastern trains normally do a 2 for 1 on lots of London stuff. All you need to do is go by train, fill in the little form on the leaflet and show it with your rail ticket on entry for 2 for 1.

Museums I wanted to see soon were: Victoria & Albert, Imperial War Museum, London Transport Museum, Greenwich Maritime Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Houses of Parliament tour. (HoP tour tickets can be sought for free by emailing a request to your local MP. I am in the process of getting a pair myself. Not sure who to go with. I don't know many politics geeks!)

Also good idea of possibly working out a Kent meet-up from the London one. I'm terribly indecisive, so I'm sorry I can't be more precise! :P

Up for another museum meet. V&A was last one.

There usually a park nearby. Even possible to to grab some food/drink and sit in he park. Done that on a number of meets.

June is better for me.

I'm up for Kent also but it would mean staying over night at a hotel because I'm from further away.
A museum meet in London, also OK. Do people usually meet somewhere else before heading off to the museum or actually at the museum?

In my experience it has been in the museum, however is usually in a good location inside for meeting up.

Generally going through the exhibits for a while, then at some point going on to somewhere else like a restaurant or park so we can sit down and talk more.

Just been to London for the first time in ages to visit some museums and see some gigs. I forgot how interesting a city it is. I am eager to return, so I'm up for a museum London meet soon. Just waiting to hear back from Kate.

I have a recommendation that might interest most because it's unique: The Hunterian Museum in Holborn (fairly central). Surgery/medical related with lots of weird and wonderful anatomical specimens. And it's free entry. There's also a park right outside it. In London you're never far from a place to eat, but walking back up to Holborn tube there are lots of choices also.

Any takers? :)

I'm up for London in June, sure. Do these meet-ups normally happen on a weekend? I am available weekdays, too. Just thinking of times where it might be less busy and packed with kids.

Where's Kate? Come back!

Typically yes. I was trying arrange short meets on weekday evenings. If the concept is viable I think it needs more discussion, probably at one of the meets.

That sounds fascinating! I'd love to go. We could meet in the park outside and people who want to do the museum go do that while the others enjoy the sun or have a coffee?

Due to museum opening times/work, we'd have to meet on a Saturday. When can/can't people make it in June?

Sorry I've been quiet for a bit. I've had my head in other stuff.

I can do any Saturday in June. Who else definitely wants to come? If they can say which dates they are available, we can all agree on a specific one.

...Or is the museum/park idea not appealing to people?

If not, feel free to suggest alternatives!

Hi
I would be happy with a park meet or a museum if it wasn't too busy.
I can't do the weekend of 24th June.

Hi London June is fine for me too I really enjoyed the last meet up at the VA Museum as for what days weekends are generally fine. Although I am also interested in the short meetups that were mentioned since it would be nice to get to know people on a more regular basis.

James :)

I agree about the regular basis thing. I think these London meetups are too infrequent if people want to make friends.

Seeing as no one is mentioning a specific date, what about Saturday 11th June - that available for everyone?

If people don't want to change the usual location to the Hunterian then we can just meet up in the usual spot at V&A if preferred (doesn't make a difference to me because it will be my first meetup from here). Haven't been there for a while anyway. Just thought the Hunterian museum would be central and interesting for most people, but it doesn't matter really which museum we go to.
