My worst problem is that things don't STOP being funny to me. They just keep reprocessing. If something's funny, it can STAY funny for what seems like forever. I think it's an OCD thing. I think it's an OCD thing. I think it's an OCD thing. I think I should stop being an idiot and get on to my replies.

You might be king of bad jokes, but I am the First Woman President of Bad Jokes!! !!

If I am in a quiet place with strangers (i.e. a doctor’s office) and some random hilarity occurs in my mind, I will have great difficulty controlling my laughter.

Yeah, I get that. Doesn't help that I use an imaginary friend as a theraputic device when I'm very stressed. ((Yeah, I'm weird, moving on.)) That, and I write stories, so my face contorts randomly throughout the day as I picture what they're saying and their expressions.

I even have songs that come to mind at the most innapropriate times that triggers laughter (example: "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen comes to mind at the worst possible time such as when someone talks about an elderly aunt or uncles death. When someone is B@$&hing about something I'm doing, I will think of Tom Petty's "Won't Back Down." and have to bite my tongue so that I won't grin or chuckle defiantly.)

Oh, ugh, the stupid self-destructive inapporpriately funny song DJ. I'd hate mine if she werent' so dang entertaining sometimes.

I second the "sex is funny" sentiment!! ! Ever see "Dogma?" Sex is a joke in heaven. ((And Alanis Morisette rules, in the most ultimate way, but that's another matter.))

I laugh at the strangest things. I'll laugh at a comercial on TV if it strikes me as being funny. Even if it doesn't make sense to anybody else.

I know what you mean. One time, I burst out laughing when one comedian from Illinois talked about the Chicago Bears complaining about not getting a new stadium and threatning to move the team to Gary, Indiana and they would be called the Gary Bears. I burst out laughing so hard at that. Everyone else in the audience started laughing and the comedian was puzzled because he was just making a statement, he wasn't trying to make anyone laugh.

I watch too many horror movies and as a result ruined "Troy" for a friend of mine. They kept switching between a picture of a baby and a picture of a funeral pyre. I started to picture the baby exploding and was laughing as a result, so of course she asked me to explain it to her. When I did, she also found the idea funny and we were laughing every time the baby went on screen, and it was really supposed to be this super-serious movie.

Laughing at the wrong time happens to me a lot. Sometimes I even laugh when the situation isn't even funny: like if my sister or someone is sad, I would start laughing and they would think I was merely making fun of them, or when my mom gets angry and then I laugh; I try to hide my laughter, but then my mom gets even more angry. I'm lucky that my mom knows I have Asperger's! Anyways, it kind of sucks, too. I hate having people getting angry at me, and I hate it when it happens in class, because everyone stares at me; it's usually because of something I thought was funny in the past that no one saw but me. I laugh at things that happened in the past, that no one else gets, and then they think I'm just immature or just weird.

I laugh at inappropriate times; like when I think of something in my head that's funny, and I chuckle at myself. My stepfather once said that If I don't stop dong it, people will think I'm taking drugs (This was before my Dx).

I compulsively laugh at the most inappropriate things too; which I absolutely hate doing. :x

Things like profanity, graphic violence and gore, mass murder and death, sex, nudity, and the moaning sounds and disfigured movements that come from a severely handicapped person.

When I see or hear such things, I'm like this
When I look away, I'm like this :? , this :( , and occasionally this  , especially when it comes from a person I know.

The saying "The spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak" applies here.

Same here. A comment made by magic suggesting that GH may be a internet "bot" (in jest) made me crack up at odd times of the day for weeks. . . . . . . .IT IS FUNNY, if you think about it (and see it in the proper context)

Sometimes the incidentals of daily life will just strike me as completely hilarious and I won’t be able to stop laughing. It’s kind of annoying.

Every once in a while, I may start sniggering for no reason, or at least at the thoughts I am thinking.

Sometimes, I may literally crack...

Some of my most intense laughter occurs at inappropriate moments. I laugh simply remembering funny little in jokes my friends and I ihave said to each other, and I laugh even harder the more I "replay" these memories in my head. I once tried to make some of my fellow students crack by reminding them, but it backfired, and I came across as a very silly person.

I think it could be an Aspie thing too, because it happens with me. In the past I used to get criticized by both my peers and my family for not being able to get over certain jokes and whatnot. Now, it still takes me a long time to get over them, but at least I'm now able to tell when everyone else is sick of them.

I guess I'm not so different from you guys after all. It happens with me all the time, too - and believe me, I do *try* to hold it back.

Yes I find myself laughing even when it might not be fun to laugh. In many situations so times I just can not help myself.

I remember once doing pot and someone told a joke I could not stop laughing.

Even thought I was going to have a heart attack.

Yeah...when I'm watching my favorite shows, which are comedy, I scarcely laugh, usually looking really serious, and when someone asks if something's wrong, I say no, and they ask me if I'm enjoying the program, and I say, "Yes, it's hiliarious." I sometimes laugh for no reason, or apparantly no reason, as if I'm remembering an embarrassing event I generally burst into laughter to relieve the nervousness. It really didn't work out well when my mom came home from a depressing funeral while I was remembering something stupid I'd said in first grade.

I once watched a few solid hours of Mr Bean episodes without so much as a smile, then laughed for ten minutes solid the next day at the memory of a scene. Actually it's making me laugh now

I even came up with a weird theory of 'stored laughter', because it seemed that my worst 'laughter attacks' came when I hadn't had much to laugh about for a while. Based on that theory I try to find something to laugh or at least smile at every day, and it seems to be working ... well, either that or I've just grown up enough to be able to control it :P

Just had a close shave with my Mum...

I overheard my Mum telling my OH about something bad on the phone (I know that my Mum's step-mum is very ill) and assumed that I was about to be told that she had died.
Just as my OH went to pass the phone to me, I started to have a fit of giggles!!

I somehow managed to bring it back under control (although I'm fighting bursting into laughter just by thinking about it) and remain serious on the phone.

It turned out that the step-Grandmother (for want of a better term) has now only months to live. I'm glad Mum didn't actually tell me she had died, I think I would have laughed until it hurt...

How awful is this? I should be feeling sad but I'm struggling to hold back the tears...of laughter.

This is not the first time this has happenend to me either, I've been to funerals before and fought back stiffled laughter too.

I do feel a little guilty, but what can I do? It's an automatic reaction! :(

BTW, I also keep laughing at random moments as I remember something funny I saw previously, much to the amusement of my colleagues at work!
