Anyone else find life weirdly a lot easier with face masks?

I enjoy the cloth masks. They’re comfy.

Yes. This pandemic and this whole year of 2020 has turned me off of my fellow man. I feel vindicated by the mask. It's like a polite way to say "Stay the hell away from me." I especially appreciate the 6 foot distance - always wanted that - but didn't want a pandemic.

Word. [I agree totally and completely.] I've honestly got three cloth masks now, and four more coming in the post, I plan to wear them often, even after the pandemic is over. I usually add aviator sunglasses over my Rx ones, so I have none of my features visible, yet people who know me still have no problem recognizing me. In the town I live in, people either don't believe in the virus [seriously, many local conservatives do not believe there is even a real virus going around at all] or feel that wearing a mask infringes upon their liberties [a suggestion that has been roundly rejected by the supreme court in the US, wherin public safety allows for temporary and reasonable suspension of certain liberties] so basically nobody else here wears a mask at all. I do most of my shopping across the state line in Chattanooga, TN where local law enforces mask wearing. However, even after COVID I plan on wearing a mask and shades most of the time, I just feel safer. I am fairly tall, wear my hair long, wear lots of jewelry, and dress very colorfully, so I usually stick out like a sore thumb in the derp south anyhow. Not to mention the fact that I never got sick as often as I usually do now [since I moved out of New Orleans]... Much of it is seasonal allergies and pollution related issues [which the masks also help with], but a lot of it is genuinely communicable disease. I swear that under half of the local men in public restrooms seem to wash their hands, this place has serious issues with personal hygiene, and what goes around has been coming around less this year since I no longer socialize with others w/o a mask on....

I'm glad someone else has noticed this too. I couldn't decide if it was coincidence or if my mask was really reducing my seasonal allergies. That's a huge perk!

I have worn them when work gets dusty, and it is routine to remove a sweater when putting the mask on, and vice-versa. I keep one in my emergency survival kit even when it is very basic.
Now, I'm modifying a mask to not fog my glasses so that I can finally enjoy the sights of winter without having my face sting.

there is this gizmo advertised on CoastToCoast, it is worn on a hip belt, it pumps HEPA-filtered fresh air into face masks, i think they want $250 for it, too rich for my blood but it surely would come in handy for extended mask-wearing.

It helps me to hide in a crowd easily, when I see someone I don't want to talk to

What I like the most is that people aren't standing right behind me breathing down my neck in a line anymore. I can't stand that. I also never liked people right behind me because they are probably memorizing my pin number.

I feel the opposite, like I'm always reminded of the global greed that allows a coronavirus from the "Chinese" Communist Party's occupied land to enter my country through a few people coming back from their trip, from which the virus spreads like hell, ready to kill my family. The covering of my face reminds me of that every day, every hour. It also reminds me of the Democrat and Republican senators working, even to this day, during the pandemic, to enable increased trade fluidity with that communist regime.

If you wish to protest presence of COVID-19, don't buy things made in China. Thrift stores and similar venues are a more sustainable option. Buy locally is probably better for your community.
When I wear a mask, I don't feel a need to speak to others - prefer to communicate with gestures.
I don't particularly like wearing mask; I try to avoid public venues where required - end result is I'm becoming either more isolated which is not a good thing or more and more oblivious to what's going on in the world.
The isolation makes me more prone to I don't want to be in this world ideas.
Being oblivious to what's going on makes it easy to forget about the Covid-19 situation most of the time.
I self-quarrentine as a way of life; mask mandates have just pushed me into more seclusion.

I'm pretty stressed when I'm in a store now. Today, a clerk tried three "friendly" lines on me, and I didn't respond much, even though I had things to say. I plan to try harder, to reduce overall stress.

I hate how the masks feel on my face. I usually have to be on my feet at work and my face can get very warm. And then if I sneeze it's all wet and... bleh. Also, I work with animals, and if I get a single hair under the mask it itches constantly.

A lot of people will just look up straight and do their things. Less small talk... and less drama. Honestly, it has some upsides. I somehow feel more free when shopping, as I just wear my mas and have "imaginary" blinders on the sides. I do what I have to and don't bother with the surroundings. More peace of mind in a way.
