When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

I got arrested because of facebook.I deleted my account. The thing I hated most about it were the girls where every single one of their 200 pictures is of them kissing their boyfriend. And then they put in their status thingy: ____ loves him so much!! !<3<3<3:)! !! It makes me sick. And the other thing was people adding me as a friend who would never talk to me in real life unless they were forced to. So, needless to say, I hate facebook. I refuse to submit to all the brain-sucking bullsh*t that has enslaved mainstream society.

i love facebook i am almost always on it i talk to my freinds nad i have 737 freinds on there i talk to at least 537 of those when i get a chance cuz i talk to whoever is online that
s who i narrow it down to i owuld talk to the other 200 but they are never online when i am so i don't talk to them as fro privacy only my freinds and people in the high school network can see my profile i let non freinds in the high school network to see it cuz even if they don't know me or have me as a freind they may be freinds with some of the people in my pics and videos os they can see them if i let anyone in my high school network see them that's way it is fair so i don't make them add me to see my pics and vids.facebook is a great wya to contact your freinds find old ones and meet new ones( when i meet someone in public i ask them to add me to facebook to stayi n touch.)

I also wanted to put some family pictures on FB, and then got paranoid about people I didn't know seeing them. So a while back I had a bit of a purge, and deleted anyone who wasn't on my "I either know IRL or know well enough" list. (worse still, I had set up a list and just deleted names not in that list)
This unfortunately got rid of some people who were AS but who I had next to nothing in common with or didn't feel comfortable with them seeing family pictures.

For future reference, you can set up albums only viewable by specific family/friends. No need to delete people if you simply don't want them seeing your photos.

I'm on facebook. I agree it's annoying and shallow, but it can also be a practical tool. Plus it has word games on it. :P

I am not on facebook, I find it is hugely invasive and they are constantly wanting to broaden their involvement in all aspects of a persons life.

If facebook is left to continue as they are with no boundaries and with no proper laws to govern the internet, we will all see our privacy dwindle and our rights abused ( More than they currently are ).

It is probably too late to change the direction in which facebook is directing our 'social lives' but it is not too late to start governing the internet and protecting its users from facebook and others invasive and violating methods.

I dislike facebook to my core and everything it represents!

I can understand why people like facebook, and I'm not totally against the idea. However, I discovered that it was ruining my self esteem as I am a person who is often paranoid of how others percieve me and how I am viewed in context of the larger social world.

Facebook did nothing but highlight my inadequacies and made me resort to idiotic and fake measures to prove to others that I had a life (e.g taking 2304203 pictures at social events and posting them). A great majority of people on there do this too, without realizing they can just opt out and not have other people looking at their lives anymore.

The way people socialize now just to put something on facebook that makes them look good is ridiculous...I have this one friend who takes picture after picture of herself and selects the best one...out of literally 100...to use as her profile picture. I also have a few groups of friends who, after taking a crapload of pictures, will remind people to upload them to facebook. It's so stupid.

I got rid of it after a decision I made to distance myself from a social group that was bad for me (they lived a party lifestyle and didn't care about much else). The problem was, I didn't want to experience the rejection blatantly by seeing that I didn't get invited to their parties or looking at them having a good time and missing it.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a profile though, because I recognized the value of facebook for promoting my autism speaking/consulting business. I opened a new account, but this time, I am under an alias and have only added the 3 people with ASD that I mentor...I will not add any of my friends or family on there. I primarly use this account to manage a successful fan page for my business. As well, I have added all the groups and pages relevant to my target audience so I can get updates, event information, and articles. I now use this account for strictly autism related purposes.

In short, I have tamed the facebook beast and now I am using it to my advantage in a way that works for me. :)

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

The easiest way to be anti-Facebook is not to use it in the first place.
