Hi Danielle,
Great to meet you, thanks for your reply! We do seem to be in similar situations! Since my eldest has been diagnosed, his school have put in place loads of adaptations, a differentiated timetable, a special corner with his own computer, IT club at break and lunchtimes etc, but having said that - I'm very tempted to home school him but my husband doesn't like the idea - I'm still working on him! Hopefully your sons' school will be a wonderful support for him, let me know. That's great you don't feel you need an official diagnosis, my husband thinks that now I'm grown up with children, there's no need and I can see his point. For me, it would be taking an emotional load off my shoulders I guess. Feel free to PM me if you want to keep in touch, that'd be lovely! Also, what do the other mums say about 'fixing' their kids? I'm intrigued!
Sam x

I just discovered this thread. I could always use more aspie friends (and friends in general).

I am a 22 year old female from NYC (not manhattan). I'm currently taking time off from college but will be returning to school in the fall. I'm living with my parents at the moment and spending time with my boyfriend (who is in school in manhattan) but would like more friends. I volunteer as a rape crisis counselor for an ER and also volunteer in an abortion recovery room.

PM me if you want to talk or learn more.

Texas has an Aspie in it!

I guess the others had the good sense to get out before the old tradition of the Texas eccentric fell prey to modern polarization.

42, gonna finish college, love my cat. I've had a lot of different jobs, and did well at all but the people parts. I collect odd information (saves space).

I like having friends, but don't really have any out here. The people I like tend to be busy, and have lived here a long time with lots of old friends already. Recently, I haven't gotten out much, or gone to events where I'd meet people I might like. I had a big social circle in Austin, and even found a rational religion, but didn't feel like I managed developing the one-on-one relationships that would have served me best.

I like to travel, but I won't have the money to do it again until I finish college. For my next trip, I want to go back to the Netherlands. I find it a model of good sense and fairness, and loved my previous trips there. Prudish Texas may never catch up.

If anyone wants to discuss any of the above further, I'd suggest PM and starting another thread in a forum where it can be found by others with the same interest. I just joined the site, so I haven't found all the discussions I want to join, yet. LMK if you know a thread I might like!

19, female. I enjoy anime, role-playing, and things. Things like my computer and my Asperger's fascinations. In fact, I have an obsession with Asperger's Syndrome itself. I'm a writer in my free time and a university student. My major is English with a suspected minor in Psychology. I wish to become a novelist with my degree and perhaps write a book on Asperger's Syndrome. If you wish to know further details, please ask appropriately in my inbox.

This form somehow feels like a criminal record and as I am quite shy I hesitated to post but I'm sick of not having friends so here I go:

Name: Ask me in PM
Age: Nearly 20 years old
Gender: Male
Race: Caucasian
Height: 1m74
Orientation: Straight
Location: Europe
Interests: Art, Women's Fashion (I know, I know), Ancient Civilizations
Favorite music: Anything from Blondie to Pixie Lott to Michelle Branch to Within Temptation to a good old Opera, however I don't like Rap, R&B and purely instrumental electronic music
Books: 1984 by George Orwell and many others which I can't remember
Magazines: Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, L'Officiel de la Mode
Languages: Several, ask me in PM.
TV shows: Charmed, Lost, 4400, Battlestar Galactica, Flashforward
Clothing: Seriously?
Job: Student

I'm just looking for some nice friends, I don't get along with neurotypicals... They think I'm crazy, or gay, or both. I usually get along better with girls. I hope to hear from someone! Thanks.

Name: Tiernan Flaherty (call me "T" if you prefer)
Age: 19
Gender: M
Location: Baltimore County, MD
Hobbies: Reading, swimming, gaming, chilling (lol), jogging
Interests: Music history, world history, arts, entertainment, current events, internet memes, computers, women
Music: Classic/hard rock, alternative/indie rock, punk rock, pop, folk, folk rock, heavy metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, classic country, alt-country, cool jazz, bop, modal jazz, contemporary (not necessarily "smooth") Jazz, baroque classical, classical, hip hop (mainly 80s/90s and conscious), soul, contemporary r&b, electronic, IDM, "world" music (i.e. cross-cultural such as Kwaalli), and probably more. I'm sort of a music "snob", although I rarely get into debates or attack others' opinions.
Books: Comics, biographies, novels, fantasy, informational
TV/Movies: Comedy, animation, drama, history/war, sci-fi, experimental, romance, documentary, action, adventure

I am basically a "weirdo" but in reality a nice guy usually. Lately I've been self critical about not being some of the important things I'm not (i.e. having true intellectual interests as most Aspies), but I am proud of myself in some ways and am trying to increase my moderate maturity level.
