Yeah I'm starting to like it there better. I relish the challenge of completing complex tasks and I like the people I work with. They're a pretty socialable bunch.

Also I hate fishing. On night time fishing trips with my dad I used to watch a portable TV, play handheld video games, do homework on my laptop or anything else to avoid fishing

Yes. I'd rather go to a fish and chip shop than go fishing.

It can be a struggle sometimes. Fortunately the internet is here and there's plenty of people to talk to.

Of course that's not the same as having buddies or a partner in real life. I've tried online relationships and there's only so much to communicate about without having them there with you in real life. That could just be because I'm terrible at conversations.

It's similar with making friends. There's only so much you can do with them behind a monitor. Having social anxiety doesn't help either with loneliness. Sometimes it's like being in your own prison watching life go by.

Aww. Don't feel so lonely man, just think. There are millions of Good bacteria living inside you that love you, also not to mention your Immune systems one job is protecting you from danger.

Now in my experience this is a mind trip. You just gotta make it over this hurdle my friend, and believe me it is a hurdle. Most people turn it into a stumbling block and trip over it, time and time again. Needn't be this way though, once you overcome the mental anguish you will find that being alone is simply an illusion.

Of course when you're going through it, you are going through it. Keepig in mind nothing last forever, even misery. :)

that reminds me of this little gem-

To the Loneliest One

There is in certain living souls
A quality of loneliness unspeakable
So great it must be shared
As company is shared by lesser beings.
Such a loneliness is mine; so know by this
That in immensity
There is one lonelier than you."

Generally I'm very happy in my own company, so I'm alone but not lonely.

When I do get lonely though, it's crippling, and I can't cope. When I have a breakdown I wish I had taken the time to make friends so that I had somebody to talk to. When I come out of it I go back to deliberately staying on my own.

Right now I'm feeling very lonely; I'm not coping. I just had a panic attack, and I'm in my room crying to myself and rocking, with some loud aphex twin grating away in my headphones. Oh brain, why do things have to be so hard? :?

When I'm properly lonely, what I want most is somebody who understands me, who knows how my mind works and who can offer me genuine comfort. How and why I feel the way I do is too heavy to share with casual acquaintances/colleagues, and that's all I have. This site seems to have a lot of people who are similar to me at least, which is some comfort.

On a side note, I like that you have penpals :) That's a really nice idea.

Pets.
I have a dog and 2 cats.
Currently looking after a pair of staffies too, I've never felt so needed.

Animals cure the lonely.

Personally I like to watch movies, play video games and read. Most of the time that's enough but during the evening I often feel very lonely.
