Hi melbi - I'm in Brisbane, but I'd be happy to meet-up somewhere that is easy for you to get to. Syzygyish is on the gold coast and I have met him a few times now. I'd definitely meet him again. Both my husband and I really liked him. My husband is also aspie. We have also met Michhsta, so hopefully she can make it as well.

Hopefully we can rustle up a few more people.. Are you able to come to Brisbane? The last place that seemed easy for syzygyish to get to was The Botanical Gardens in Mount Coottha.

Hi Bella, I would love to meet you and others too! Yep, I can go to Brissie, got a car, and I used to live near Mt. Cootha 4 years ago =P What's a good time for you guys?

hi again Bella,

I've got a minor problem here...
I didn't have a car when I was in Briz, so I actually don't know how to get onto Mt. Cootha.
and, I'll need to ask my bf's permission coz he would be worry about me meeting online friends and he's in Melbourne so he can't go with me. Any tips for convincing him?

Hi melbi,

If you look up Mount Coottha Botanical Gardens in Google Maps you will be able to find it. Here is the link to Google Maps - http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

Umm.. as far as convincing your boyfriend... Well the typical rules for meeting people from the internet are - meet in a public place in the daytime with other people around. Mount Coottha Botanical Gardens does meet this criteria... but feel free to suggest somewhere else if you know somewhere else. And... the other two people we met are still alive and posting. *grins*

Hi Bella,

I'm thinking somewhere closer to me / more familiar with will be better for me to ask permission. but that also means you'll have to travel. I looked through the thread, and there's quite a lot of people from GC, and some people had met in Southport library before? Something like that would be good coz that's the area I'm very familiar with. I'm gonna ask bf when he calls me in a sec. what do you think?

Melbi =)

Hi Guys :D
I finally uploaded the photos from the Supanova meet.
It took SIX Hours ! 8O to put them up on my myspace page.
http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.c ... Id=2267959

I was going to put them all up here and add comments,
but it's late and there's a lot of them and I'm tired
so I will procrastinate.

Hi melbi :)
Welcome to WrongPlanet!
:D
I can't believe that finally there's someone on the Gold Coast that's an Aspy that is social enough to meet me!
:o Pure amazement!

Is there anything you want to share with us about your situation?
Nothing personal, of course!
I have blurted out so much of my history in this thread it's embarrasing!
Just mundane things like:
Do you have a job?
What's your obsession at the moment?
What's the obsession of your lifetime?

Actually, that's probably a little bit too personal as well,
Forget I axed it.

aaw : stop it!

OMG!
I know it is the lifetime of being #### on by NT's,
but I still can't accept that my presence is accepted...

but, I really, really, didn't want to go the Supanova Sci-Fi Festival,
which is why I procrastinated informing anybody about it,
until the last minute.
But then I got this Really Heart-Warming message from Bella1
and decided to go for it!
And it was Great!
I had an Awesome Time! :D
Even though I was really late, as usual.
I pretended to play the fool,
and forgot to pretend, as usual.

Also...
Just got a pm from tektek !

:D :D :D

To sum up: He's busy
and it's complicated.

I know Exactly how how he feels!

I better submit this post before I pass out
clicking submit....NOW!

Hi syzygyish,

*shake hands* yay for Gold Coast!! !

haha I love personal questions because I always ask people questions that are too straight and personal and they got offended =P

Anyway, as I'm only 21, still a student, at Griffith.
My obssession: dolphins, dolphins and dolphins
Collecting obssession: bears and dolphins stuff...yes, my whole house is decorated with bears and dolphins stuff
oh, and did I mention my bf? I'm totally obssessed with him as well.
My other obssession that is building up progressively: teeth
My obssession for women's fashion: Review...my whole wardrobe is Review clothing, and my bank is empty because of this...should learn some self control =P

My weird habit: keep calling people's name (ppl i like) over and over again...for some reason, it gives me a sense of security

So when and where should the next meet up be? I'm totally excited!! !

Hi guys,

A gold coast meet would have to wait about two weeks for us. We've had really busy weekends lately. Need a weekend free to just relax. The trip takes about an hour and a half from here. It's certainly do-able. What about going to a cafe though, so we can sit down? Any good ones around there?

Oh, I should mention we have a 7 month old boy, so we'll be bringing him along too. He's never seen the beach before, so we'll have to introduce him while we're out there.

I liked your photos syzygyish. I think my favourite is that girl with the red eye contacts. Really glad you enjoyed yourself too.

I've been So busy!
Not frantic, but definitely frenetic! :!:
Also, I didn't get any Topic Reply Notifications about this thread,
which is an ongoing problem I have with WP that I am not going to grumble, groan, moan, grizzle, whine or complain about here.

grumble, groan, moan, grizzle, whine and complain about that here.

Hi Bella1 :D
Woot! :D
I was thinking that nobody looked at the photos and maybe I had put them away somewhere where people couldn't see them.

I had the most awesome time!
I can't believe now that I didn't want to go!
As much as we are solitary by nature,
we still retain that primeval imperative to be part of a group when we are in public.

That's what made the difference for me
and allowed me to enjoy myself and share my joy with you and Paul, at being there, on the day,
... in complete contrast to the time I went two years ago and wandered around like a little lost lamb looking for a sheppard
and only engaged with the merchants I bought products off.

Anyway, that's enough serious contemplation for me! :D

Melbi, how about a day at the beach in a couple of weeks with your boyfriend and Bella1 and Paul and their beautiful bouncing bundle of joy ?
:D

...And me, designated fifth wheel, as usual !

Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply immediately to your kooky triple post (I loved it, it reminded me of someone... someone who may be even more kookyish... :D )

Also, I have Fantastic news, TekTek is starting to feel better,
is posting again,
and will probably read this!
Looking forward to seeing you again!

When you feel like it

Hey guys,

Beach is cool! Haven't been to the beach for ages although I live right next to it =P

Bella, I don't know much about cafes here maybe syzygyish will know some? But if you guys like chocolate, there's max brenners in marina mirage on the spit. that's all i know...

syzygyish, my bf is in Melbourne, we are long-distance relationship so you won't be the fifth wheel.

Let me know what's a good time for you guys so I can let my boss know in advanced that I can't work on that particular time/day. I'm all good on the weekends =)

Hi guys! :D

I have actually had Two Telephone conversations with melbi !
She's a still a little bit hesitant about meeting a single male face to face,
and I really believe that is the best choice to make!

However, she has given me the most exciting news I have heard in a long time!
:D
There is a meetup group on the Gold Coast!

I didn't know AnyThing about it!

Talk about being kept in the dark and being fed indigestible stuff!

I checked the meetup website a few days ago but didn't find any aspergers groups on the gold coast.

I have found an aspergers support group, the next one is this sunday. http://www.mikakonaitopsychologist.com/Support_Group-e3-80-80.html
Sometimes we organize a social activity like bowling or movies.
