Matt says:

aussiebloke, I am really sorry to learn about your plight !
You are right to be optimistic, things have really changed since I grew up and was told that the brain was concrete and we only lost brain cells as we grew older.

Thanks for your kind words I'm now at the stage where I'm not a danger to myself OR other people . :) Still not 100% recovered, going to the beach sounds like fun I'll need to put my thinking hat on  should I attend this weekend OR wait till I'm 100% fully recovered.

Julien.

I have found an aspergers support group, the next one is this sunday. http://www.mikakonaitopsychologist.com/Support_Group-e3-80-80.html

Hi Matt, You sent me that link in December!
The next meeting was in February, and I promptly forgot all about it!
Also, you have my phone number in a pm I sent you on Sun Dec 13, 2009 9:00 pm

WooT! :D Can't wait for Sunday! :D

How many people usually attend! I imagine it's not many.

I'm not working today, due to the rain... I may go down and check out the location and take some pictures, so I don't get lost on the day, and so anyaspy else that attends for the first time has a concrete visualization of their destination.
:D

hi Matt,

Was there any female Aspie? Mikako told me that there were rarely any.
Was there food? I get hungry all the time =P
Is it alright if I wear a dress?

I might be talkative at times...if I feel relaxed and comfortable... otherwise I'm generally really quiet outside home due to anxiety...

There was a female aspie at the last meeting but she didn't like to talk as all, she also bought a teddy bear to hide her face behind. Another girl who has come twice was nice and talkative but she wasn't there last time.

She's a still a little bit hesitant about meeting a single male face to face,
and I really believe that is the best choice to make!

Your quite right their how would she know some one is AS ? I know theirs Autistic code :) (If I remember correctly on one thread TEK TEK says no intentions :) on a Meet UP)

Stony face, monologues, aloofness, interruptions, perhaps ? would you be 100 % certain their AS, again if I remember correctly (on another thread) some one here at WP went to a MEET UP with some one else believing they where AS and apparently had managed to work out they where NT would you know?

One of the reasons I like to befriend/ acquaint myself with the mentally ill often their very loud and talkative less pressure to preform. And I don't mind indulging peoples ramblings!

Also what you see is what you get. I prefer to get my surprises from a chocolate box all sorts.

That was amazing wasn't it ?
Most people wait for days, weeks, months, even Years before I reply to them!
Sometime I amaze even myself ! :D

It was Great! :D
Thirteen people showed up!
I, personally think that was a bit too many, our ideal group size is probably two.

We sat in a circle and introduced ourselves.
The theme of the discussion that day was supposed to be 'Interests'
and I hopped up and gave a demonstration of Iyengar Yoga. :D 8)
But I was the only one that confidant and motivated to do that.

Mostly, the more outgoing and 'socialized' Aspies dominated the conversation. :(
I admit, I was one of them.

I really wish I'd been able to spend an hour in consultation with most of them alone.
I finally met MattD - :) - Didn't get a chance to talk. :(
Met aussiebloke - :) - We did manage to converse a little bit, He's Great! :D
I think you've recovered a lot better than you think you have, Julian! :D
If you hadn't told us about your past and all the traumas that you have experienced,
I would have thought you were "Just this guy, you know." (Hitchhikers Guide reference)

I met two Aspies I have met before, James and Ben,
Ben is a Sci-fi nut like me, we both love Firefly ! :D I gave him a book by my third top Sci-Fi author 'Gridlinked' by Neal Asher. :D
He is actually trying to join WP, but is having problems with WP's server. :(

And I met Melbi
Oh My God !
8O
She's like... pure fun!
She jokes, she plays, she laughs, she kids around,
she stole my phone! :x She snuck into my car when I snuck out to have a smoke!
... I think she got over-excited and her inner child got out !
She's Awesome!

She also freaked out about it later on, but, I think, that, the inner child is the Golden Child, Melbi.
You are NOT supposed to feel guilty about feeling happy and free.
This is your True Nature!

...I really believe that, in the future, it will not be a psychiatrists job to remove aberrant behavior, or to confine a patient to societies strictures,
but to motivate the blossoming of the Golden Child inside every human being on Planet Earth!

What a world that would be to live in!
What a World!

I didn't talk much at all, i find it hard to make and join conversations. I think the conversation went a bit off topic, usually a question about the topic is asked to everyone so even the quiet aspies get to talk.

Sorry we didn't get to talk syzygyish, mayby we can talk at the meet next sunday if you are coming.

Also im not scared of you melbi, i thought you were nice. :)
